Ok, I just recently got the factory foglights kit from my local ford dealer. It comes with super vague directions, in fact tis only picutres and they give them(all included parts) letters when refering to them. Now i've looked at this thing, and pieced it out on "dry dock" to see how it all goes to gether, but my question is that is there anyone that has installed these from a kit like this? If so I don't want to do 40% of the steps that revolve around the hibeams turning them off and such. I want it to go from the engine bay to the switch they gave me. When I turn it on, they come on. Nothing more and nothing less.

We did it to our '02. I highly recomend installing them the stock way. Mainly you have to use common sense, any knowledge you have, and a test light. We through the directions away. They're only helpful when wiring the relays correctly.

Well thats great, but there is Zero harm in doing a direct wire. Quite frankly i'm afraid i'll screw something up if i follow these directions. At lest my way there the least amount of errors, and i will be using the directions to that extent.

I would like to add fogs to my 02 XLT also, but am in the beginning/planning stages.

Can you get the correct fog light "panels" from a Ford parts dept.? My XLT (having not been built with fog lights) has "blank panels" where the fog lights should go, and I would need the panels with the fog light "cut-outs" in them, if that makes sense...

Sorry for the hijack! :)

On the 4-door '02+ the foglights are turned on via the headlight dial--pull the dial out for the foglights.

I meant blank panels on the air dam , not on the instrument panel. ;)

Gotcha. Those should be available--I wouldn't imagine them to be too expensive either.

hahaha. They want $68 for the non-fog light plastic piece. How much is the kit?

Kit is around $200. Includes everything you need down to the bulbs and relays.

does the kit include the bezel to go around the fog lamps and the switch as well or does that need to be purchased separately? also . . . how difficult is the wiring here? i have fairly limited knowledge here and i'm just wondering what i'm getting into. thanks.

Ya i've thought about doin this to my '02. I have concluded that for the benefit of stock headlights it's not worth paying $200+.

Factory fogs are worthless and illegal to be used when not "foggy" in my state. I actually got pulled over in my '96 and was told that it was illegal operation of fog lights.

Anyone know the Ford part # for the foglight kit, specifically for a 2002/3rd gen Explorer? I'm having trouble finding it online. :(

Whats the problem? Pull a power source from an always live wire, run it to the switch, then to the lights, and ground it.

Power -> switch -> Lights -> ground.

Just make sure you have a fuse between the power and lights, and you're golden.

edit: lol housed by a two year old thread. Smooth.
