This is kinda a continuation of my other post...
I have been given a factory Ford AM/FM/CD unit, the amp, and the "data cable" that goes with it. I don't have the specifics of the vehicle it was from (or even if the amp and head unit are from the same vehicle). I want to say it's from a Taurus, but I'm not sure.
Anyway, we tried to hook up the deck, amp and cable in my buddy's F-150 (a 93 I think). The deck powered up, but no sound came out. He thinks the amp is fried, but I remember seeing some post here somewhere on the subject.
Anyway, I am thinking of trying it out in my 91 Explorer. I already have a factory amp and I assume it to be in good order. Remember, my harness plug has been cut off at the dash as well as the end of the "data cable." I figured I could run the other data cable back to see if it all will work. My only problem is the fact that I have no plugs to plug into the deck. I know they make all those plugs to hook an aftermarket radio to the factory plug, but do they make a replacement for the factory plug? Or, is there a site somewhere that would have the pin-outs on the back of the radio so I could make something long enough to see if I can get this working?
Or, is this a shot-in-a-million since I don't know the vehicle/year of the radio?
