I am now the proud owner of a 1969 Ford F100, 390 automatic, just finished unloading it.
It does not currently run, but its in good shape for its age, minimal rust, and just surface, no rot.
I plan to build it as a "restomod", keep it mostly original looking, but have some decent power under the hood. I will have to get used to carbs agian, I have gotten used to fuel injection.
Its too dark for pics now, but I will get some tomorrow!

Nice....I have a 53 and i am trying to find the money to build it to a street rod....

Nice, my first two vehicles were classics. 1968 chevy c-10 350sb, and my baby which was a 1967 mercurt cougar with a blown 351 cleveland. Ill dig up some pics but owning a classic is a fun and expensive hobby.

One thing you should check out is the Cab mounts. They are known to go bad in the earlier Ford trucks. I had one that got so bad the cab was resting on the steering rod at the firewall. Made it hard to turn and wore out some of the cab metal that was resting on the steering rod.

I will have to check that out, thanks. I did eyball the cab and bed to look for frame warpage, everything lines up great.
First thing is to buy a battery, dont know what works and what dont yet.
This truck has a couple custom mods already, Grant wheel, mounts for 6X9's and dual exhaust with 3' angle cut tips.

Watch out for those cab corners too they are a known trouble spot in that body style through 79.

Ok, does anybody know how to decode the VIN for this old of a truck? It has the eleven digit code instead of the 17 that all the websites support. I found a classic car decode site, which had the stuff for every ford car built in 1969, but no trucks.
I didnt get any pics yet, spent the one hour of daylight I had left after work cleaning out a ton of crap that was in the bed.

Pics at last!
Truck aint purty, but it will be in a couple years. Today I replaced completly shredded rear drivers tire, so its sitting straight finally.
The hay spike setup has since been removed. This weekend I will begin to sand the rust off the bed floor and get it primered up. The bed will have all the holes welded closed and ground smooth. I am planning to rino line the bed and then put down a rubber mat to cover up any damage.
Havent had any luck trying to turn over the motor, I am hoping to break it loose with the starter, but the battery I borrowed today was junk, so dont know yet.

Here is one of the interior and one filthy 390...

Here's your request:

I would try and roll the motor over by hand before using the starter, you wouldn't want to break anything.
Looks like it hasn't been inspected since 1996.

JamesT would prolly be interested in that hay spike :p:

I do like the fact that the bed has what appears to be an intact "Smuggler's Box" on it, most of these, the seals went bad allowing water to get in them and rotting out.

Sorry to see that they chopped the doors up to put 6x9's in there, but looks like they didn't do the same for the radio area which is rare.

Have fun with your new project looks cool.

Thanks! I need to go looking for the vin plate, I just have the # from the title.
Sucks tho, cause if its right, this truck came with a 300 6cyl, someone swapped motors along the line. Now I have to verify that its a 390, its definitly a big block, but it could be something else. So much for #'s matching. I plan to power wash the motor this weekend to get some of the crap off of it.
The bed box is amazingly intact, door and latch still work perfect.

Thats awesome! Funny thing growing up who would of thought those suckers would some day be classics, back then they were just trucks hahaha

My BII qualifies for classic truck plates in 2008 I have waited a long time for that!!!

I did turn the motor over by hand, pretty smooth, so I am happy. I am on the second battery and still cant get enough charge to crank, they are borrowed used batteries, but they worked last summer, but nothing now.
Turns out this was definitly a 300 6 motored truck, and had/has a 3.50 rearend, dont know now, it may have been changed for all I know.
I decided today that the new colors will be a medium charcoal metallic gray, with a gray and black interior. I cant deal with the blue, lol.

Nice straight body, great find.

A little update, after replacing the battery wires, solonoid, rebuilding the carb and buying a battery, the truck starts right up! I havent even had to adjust anything, amazed me. I have to replace the freeze plugs and fix the brakes before it can be driven, but the trans does work.
I am trying to get it run, move and stop, for now, so I can move it around while I am doing bodywork and saving up for the engine rebuild later on. I started sanding the rust spots last night, most of surface rust came off easily.
