Hi All:

I finally got my X!! After a couple of month’s research, I finally got the one I was looking for - a '00 V-8 LTD w/72k and AWD for $7750. It might sound a little high to you guys in the rest of the country, but it seems like an OK deal out here. The AWD V-8s are fairly hard to come by in L.A. Had to drive 120 miles to get the car (San Diego). Didn't actually need the LTD, but I do like some of the bells and whistles. Drove it home yesterday afternoon, smiling all the way, just like a kid!

I want to thank all the past and current posters here that I relied upon to help me make my choice. And thanks for responding so readily to my earlier question about the differences between the '98 - '00 years. You make a newbie feel right at home.

Now I’m checking the tire forum for advice on tires. My offroad dreams are a lot tamer than most of you folks here - I figure maybe the Revos will be good for me. My boy is in the Scouts and we go camping a bit during rainy season. We get offroad some and I'd like to have something that will give me some offroad performance, but still remain quiet on the highway. I'll continue to check out the threads on this topic.

Thanks again,

Bob

I have BFG all terrains 235/75/15 and love them, on of my friends has Revos on his F150, and he wishs he got the BFG's, they are much better in our opinion and they are quit on the highway. I do a good bit of light wheeling in the mud and they are great, they were about $105 for each. If you want to I think you can fit 31/11.5 with a slight rub, that is the biggest i have seen on a stock suspension. Tell you son to stay in the scouts and get his eagle scout, I just did and it is the greatest thing i have done yet in my life.

OMG thats cheap!!!! a AWD V8 '00 limited would be worth 12-14k here.

TT/shackles and 31s would look great on that truck.

anyway good luck and glad you got the truck.

You are in Alaska, the only thing cheap there is ice and Eskimo Hoes.

actualy a bag of ice is like $3...freaking crazy
Remember the saying " like selling ice to an eskimo"?
Eskimo's actually buy ice makers also,

Me too

Maybe we bought brothers I too bought last week a 2000 limited V8 AWD, but I got it cheaper, I bought it in L.A. at an Salvage Auto Auction, It's hit on the Back it only needs the Back door and a little repair on the quarter panel, but airbags are o.k.

Right now it's waiting to import it to Mexico but I got it for $3500 delivered to the border.

Hope you are as happy as I am because my 2 door just got smaller for my growing family.

The Revo's and the BFG ATKO's are both popular all terrain tires. I've only personally had the TAKO's, and they were great in everything except sticky mud, and super heavy rain. I had a set of Timberlines and they were OK, but like the Revo's I just can't bring myself to put Firestone tires on an Explorer.

I had great luck with my Timberlines, even with not much tread left. Last winter our roads were glare ice... I made it around just fine, and even managed to pull a car out of the ditch (my truck was sliding down the small hill in Park)
Between my Bronco2 and Explorer, they lasted me about 4 yrs atleast.
