1998 Mountaineer 5.0 AWD
Just had to share. Had my '98 Mountaineer on a buddy's lift for about a month and a half to replace seemingly everything:
  • New fuel system: new tank, fuel pump assembly, fill tube and hoses, and sprayed the lines out with carb cleaner. Oh, and new fuel filter.
  • New rear leaf springs.
  • The vehicle came from New Jersey and the rear driveshaft was so rusted thin I went ahead and found a better one from a salvage yard and put new u-joints on it.
  • Reman AWD transfer case (Zumbrota)
  • New front drive shaft. Picked up one of the cheap Chinesium $90 ones from eBay with a 3 year warranty. We will see how long it lasts, easy enough to swap out if it goes bad.
  • Dropped the front diff assembly, cleaned, resealed front cover, and replaced CV seals.
  • New Mevotech upper control arms and new adjustable hardware
  • New Mevotech lower control arms/bushings
  • New front sway bar endlinks
  • New torsion bar isolator pads
  • Drained trans pan, replaced filter, new fluid
  • New motorcraft plugs and wires.
  • Four new tires 245/60/R18
Just need to get an alignment and I can put 'er back on the road.
