first generation lifts

body or suspension i really dont know what i am looking for so a little help would be appreciated. It is a two wheel drive 4 door 94 explorer so how much would a suspension lift/ or body lift. cost i dont really plan on doing any serous off roading but would like to have the option would 500 dollars for what i am looking for?

You can check my mod thread for a bunch of prices and how toos, I just did a small body and suspension lift and kept it somewhat simple. You`re 2wd, so search out lifting a 2wd, I think it might be a little different if you wanted some spacers up front or something, something about the length of your bottom bolt. Keep it simple and mild I say, for 2wd why go crazy right?

thanks for the info id50 all or most of those posts have been in on fixing my explorer now that every thing is fixed i get to try to lift it by the way how much is a canadian dollar to the US dollar

Well our dollar seems to be getting stronger with every country you folks invade, it was down to about 62 cents CDN to 1 dollar US a couple years ago, now we are at almost 78 cents per US dollar.

I guess it makes more "cents" to use a conversion closer to the time I made most of my purchases. (that would mean timesing by .62, so if I say it cost me $200 CDN x .62 = 124 US.)

I guess any value would be an aproximation anyway what with the constantly changing dollar value , inflation, pricing changes and whatnot. It gives a ballpark idea I guess.

A 2" Skyjacker lift kit will run you $180 U.S. without shocks and will allow you to run 31X10.5 tires. The kit is made up of add-a-leafs for the rear and lift (longer) coil springs for the front. It's the same kit whether you're 2 or 4WD. Shocks same length as stock ones are long enough to handle the extra distance. You can also get a 4" and 6" kit for 2WD, or a body lift depends on what you want to end up with.

i just looked at the skyjacker 2 inch add a leaf and extended coil spring package, they mentioned something about oversized camber and caster shims being required.. what all is involved with doing this?

also.. running stock suspension on a 93 sport.. what is the largest size tire and wheel combo you can run without any modifications?

The oversized shims may have to be used for proper alignment. After it gets lifted, your wheels look like this: \ /. Most alignment shops will have any necessary oversized shims. It depends on what sized ones are in now as to whether or not you need them. I ordered some with my kit and it turned out I didn't need that large of shim, so the shop just swapped mine for a set they had no charge.

I've had no problem with my 4" Pro Comp lift on my 91 , as I remember though it was a bit more pricey but i cant remember exact price now.

If you want just looks. Buy a 3" body lift for $120 or less. This will let you run a bigger tires & still have the lifted look. No sense going off road since your only 2WD & you'll get stuck really quick.

well the thing is jason94 sport my suspension is already worn out so getting new components would make more sense. already has 219000 mlies on suspension original shocks.
