Has anyone had experience with a Government vehicle auction? There's a forest service one up the road on Friday and I was thinking about going. They have a few '98 single cab Ranger 4x4s I was looking at. Think they'll go for a deal or will they be typical private party prices? It's a friday morning auction too. How many people could be there? :) :p

You can get some good deals.
But The F.S. never sells equip until they are total beaters, who knows, ck it out.

One of the ranger has 29,000 miles on it!

The higest is 82,000. They look decent in the pics too. Plus, I've been wanting to get into automotive painting. :D

Looks good, gotta love that Dawgvomit color

is that even a factory color? thats the most hideous color i believe i have ever seen on a truck. i bet if you dropped it with 20's and put a wing on a hard tanaue(sp) cover the color would look about right.

It's what color all of California's Forest Service vehicles are. That way no one steals them. :D

If I pick one up it's going to get the Welds that are on my Explorer now. Probably some BFG Ats too. Then paint it when the weather changes (if it ever does). It's been raining since November here. :(

hell yeah I would keep the mint green and just add purple flames!

In my experience deals can be found at vehicle auctions depending on the amount of people who show up. Now equipment auctions are entirely different, people bid way to high and you would be better off getting it new.

Forest service vehicles here are that color too.

I would love to get that F1/2/350 behind that truck for cheap.

I kind of like that mint green. (!!) Is that a 2-door Tahoe to the left there?

yeah i like the green too ;)

UPS Brown Rules,FS green sucks,DHL yellow stimulates my erectile tissues:)

Anyone know if these things are factory painted this color option, or are they white when built, then shipped off somewhere else to be painted. I'm wondering if the door jambs, underhood, etc, are this color green too.

Ford painted, will see that at the auction

Sweet. So it would take a lot of work to change from this to Mustard yellow. :p

Looks like a good buy, but beware that 82K on a Forestry is like 200K on a regular one. Father in law is a forester, and after 4years, his trucks are used up. He buys them new and has to trade them every 4 years. But he drives a Chevy and that could be why.
