Too long, you dont need 8.50 inches of travel for the IFS. Get something shorter, it'll be easier to work with. Its got a reservoir anyway so you've got plenty of oil -- not that it makes much of a difference unless its a desert runner you're shooting for. I mean for that matter, the only benefit of having the reservoir is probably tunning the shock as the schrader valve can be mounted somewhere easilly accessible..

Hmmm, i didnt know that. So even with a lift i wouldnt need 8.5?? or even 8.0??? I have 8.0 bilsteins now. Actually it is a desert type truck im looking to build. In the near future is a camburg 6.0 kit....

Most IFS lifts dont increase the amount of travel you have unless the kit comes with longer A-arms (which will push your wheel mounting surface out). Most lift kits only drop the IFS down. You might need a longer shock since the lower-shock mounting point is now X-inches lower, but the amount of shock travel is the same.

Im not familiar with the Camburg kit but the design might push the shock out more -- which would require a shock with greater displacement/travel.

If a desert truck is you're goal, then I would save up some cash and build my own A-arms. I hope you have a 2wd cauz that would allow you to push the A-arms closer together and have plenty of travel -- same concept as the trophy trucks which run arms that are practically pivoting next to each other. Of course you can only push them in just a little bit cauz of the engine block but every little tid-bit counts towards a plush suspension.

alright sean, was it you i seen on tv with a mask robbing that bank??? j/k

Yeah its a 2wd. Ive thought about having someone build me a set of upper and lower arms. I actually just recently met a few guys who do custom fab work. They built a custom ifs long travel coilover kit on one of thier own 2001 explorers. That kits looks very nice and they beat on it every weekend. Thanks for the quick lesson on the IFS, i would not have known that. Will the 8 inch shocks i have on thier now hurt anything??

I for one dont know but if it came with the kit, then chances are its good to go. But even if the shocks are too short (thereofore limiting the suspension travel), the only damage that can be done (when the IFS drops down during air time) are on the shocks themselves.

I'm running 14" Fox's on my truck right now. I like them:thumbsup: No reservoirs though:(

I thought about getting the emulsion's with no resi, but i like the resi and its only and extra couple of dollars. How did you end up mounting yours in the front?

I didnt buy them with a kit. i bought them from a guy on here locally. I figured 8 inch would be good with the lift i do have with the spindles and such. But you guys are the experts, that much i have seen on this site..

Stic-O's coil overs are mounted to suspend the weight of the vehicle and to dampen oscillations.. so the two are different. In your situation, the torsion bars suspends the weight of the vehicle and the shock dampens the oscillations.

No coil overs here:nono:

They just go wayyyy up in..

Ahaha I thought you had coil-overs. Sorry!

Nahh, I'm Old school...The Fox's are as fancy as I get:D
I doubt that the Stic-O cam counts as "old school" :shifty_ey

if you really want to run a fox resivoir, you should look for the 2.0 challenger 6.5" which would bolt right in. it's designed for the class 11's so you wouldn't even have to have a custom mount made, only thing you might have to weld would be resivoir tabs to the frame...
