Look on the other side of the chassis and see if theres anything there. Typically the fuel lines run on the driver's side chassis so make sure you look out for that one. Use a few layers of cardboard or a wet rag to insulate the fuel lines or whatever from the chassis if needed.

De-un-hook the battery.

ive never unhooked the battery when welding, but I suppos it cant hurt.

Just make sure thers nothing important on the other side.

I wouldn't think it would do anything to the Battery if you left it plugged in. The Ground clamp for the welder is a much better conducter for the Electrcity if properly attached to the frame. Other then that you should be good. What ya welding to the frame?

You should always disconnect both terminals of the battery.

It helps to isolate the electrical system.

IZ,,,,, card board ? and welding ? together ? Ya wanna rethink that one ?

Keep the ground as close as you can to the work area, the obvious ventelate, keep the stuff protected you want protected. A spray bottle of water is handy also.

when welding on a anything my dad and i unhook the alternator and the battery just to be safe.
