I want to relocate the diff breather on the front diff from the side to the top. Any reason it is where it is? Any reason I cant plug that hole and make a new hole some where closer to the mount where the diff bolts to the frame?
The reason I ask is because its in the way. My motor hits it and I cant modify the oil pan anymore. I need to get the motor down 1 more inch and sideways toward the drivers side 1 more inch for the motor to fit with out modifying other parts

i dont see why you cant, think the toyoter guys do that on the land cruisers etc. i dont see a reason why you cant relocate, wonder if the motor clearence etc wasnt enough if it was on the top? not sure.

You can move it if the airflow inside is enough to vent all of it from another location.

Curious, what engine are you trying to stick in there?

I plan to drill and mount a drain plug in the pan at the bottom if there's room. It's a pain to make any attempt to get the old gear oil out, you can't do it without dropping the diff.

iirc he wanted to add a 3.8, but im not too sure.

Thanks for the picture. I see that I can put it on the other side but not on top.

Very good. I posted the picture thinking it might help to point at another spot to relocate that vent. I might myself drill a hole in the bottom of the case for a drain plug, if I think it won't weaken it at all. I want to be able to R&R the gear oil once a year if I like.
