sway bar end link bushings? I don't see anywhere in the thread where you state you checked those and they are good (although I may have missed it).
only other thing I can think of, which is what Clutchless95 mentioned. Although there was a change in the torsion bar keys.
Atleast in my '97, there are kevlar pads at the top of the torsion bar keys. Of course over time, the pad can wear out and then you get metal-on-metal, possibly causing the clunk you're hearing and feeling.
I know there was a change to the torsion bar keys, I just can't seem to remember when that happend. Although I'm thinking between 97-98, but I'm not positive on that.
