Fuel cap on a 2000 XLT.

Hi There,
I am new to this group. I own a 2000 Explorer XLT. I have had check fuel cap and check engine fault light for a few weeks. I purchased a new gas cap but noticed the sealing face on the filler tube is cracked and in bad condition. I am thinking this is where my problem lies and not the cap itself as the rubber sealing face looks ok .
Anyone had this problem or had to replace the filler neck?

Welcome Harry!

I have replaced 2 of them now, for the exact same reason. 1Aauto.com sells a great unit for $100, they are uber expensive elsewhere.

I had a thread but lost the pics when my Photobucket was compromised, but the text is there. Either way- the guys at 1Aauto did a great video anyhow. Great guys, and they're a forum sponsor too!
