2003 Explorer Sport
The 2003 Explorer Sport we got for the kids does not have the fuel cap tether attached. There is a hole on the rim of the assembly where the fuel filler is and I'm assuming Ford had a plastic pin there. Can anyone confirm or post a picture of how the cap's tether attaches to the fuel filler area.

Don't want to hear my son complain he lost the cap.

Remove the bottom screw and reattach.

Thanks!

The screw was sitting in the drain hole at the bottom of the cup area that was filled with road grime. I tried putting the screw in the hole where it should be and it wouldn't go. Crawling underneath it turned out to be a particularly big piece of road grime. Once I got it out attaching the tether was easy.

Unfortunately why under the Sport I see the left rear backing disk is wet/oily. Guess son and I are replacing rear seals.
