Gear shift stuck in park! Help!

I wanted to put our other vehicle in the garage so I backed the 2002 Explorer down our driveway and parked it. Now I can't get it out of park! I don't want to force the gear shift. Does anyone have any advice for me? Thank you! Beaglesmom

Check your brake switch at the pedal to make sure it's functioning properly. If the computer doesn't think you've pressed the brake, it won't let you shift out of park.
