Your paying someone else to put them in? I don't know to much about 2008's set up but like with 2nd gen its all plug and play. I always do my own and all my friends trucks and cars.

Im 18 and have no clue how to do the hid install it looks it easy but i would rather get it installed by professionals

Haha its a brezzzz I'm 21 haha its really SO easy haha but then again I don't know if the 08 have any strange settings you have to by pass. My moms has an 2003 1500 Dodge, and the HIDs caused the computer system to think the bulb was burnt out, and make the other blink to let you know. Because they wernt pulling the 55W so I had to sit down and think about it. So what I ended up doing was taking the power wire from her marker lights and splicing that into her head lights. So now its head lights on or off no in between. So yeah I have no idea where I was going with that!

have you or your mom had any problems with getting pulled over by the 5-0 and also do you think it will look nice and bright with 6000k headlights and fogs on

No cops don't care up here at all because it is SO dark. I have 6K in my heads and 12K in my fogs and I love it. I see way better and it just looks sexy as hell!

OUCH :thumbdwn:

I paid a lot less than that for mine (from a local Calgary seller), but as someone said, these kits are easily installed yourself.

The guy here in town charges $80 for an install and it takes him an hour tops. You're paying way too much because $400+ is on the high side. What sort of hardware comes with the kit? For that price you should be getting slim ballasts, a high quality wiring harness etc. HID kits have come way down in price (including bi-xenon which I have). That price might have made sense about 2-3 years ago, but not now and especially in a city the size of Vancouver which has a huge ricer community (with lots of HID kits being sold there).

Shop around.

Thats really not a bad price for bi-xenons and fog lights installed. If there is any problems let the shop figure them out. I've sold so many hid kits for brand new vehicles and all i have had is problems with daytime running light modules and all that kind of jazz.

alright thanks for the help you guys but i think im going to now hold off on getting the hids. as it sounds like the newer explorers give a lot problems like with the DRL and Lamp error and things like that.

Oh, I didn't factor in fog lights (duh). Now that you put it that way, it's not bad.

Hey you guys what do you think of this price and system the guy said that my auto lights and drl will still work fine with no errors. please tell me what you guys think.

Hi, for your 08 Explorer we will put a bixenon type with micro chip bypass system in it. and the price break down shown as below

$280 GEN 3 Philips IC Ballast type Bixenon H13 Kit with 6000K Mechanism tilting bulb type. (Hight and Low beam HID) 12 months warranty
$180 GEN 3 Philips IC Ballast type 9145 with 6000K for the foglights 12 months warranty
$160 Professional installation included all the bypass and micro chip system setup and free mobile service to install at your work place or home while you are waiting. (3hrs work)

Your HID will work with DRL (lights will kick in when ebrake release or shift in Drive mode) and also work with auto lighting system, just work like the stock setup. should you have any question pls feel free to call me at 604-618-8061 for more information or setup an appointment for mobile serivce.

Best Regards,
Mervyn

You could do it yourself for less $. But, time + electrical knowledge + workmanship + quality parts = $.
Not too bad if its a "turn key" deal and the installers are here tomorrow if you need them to honor the warrantee.

do you guys know what these are bypass and micro chip system. The guy said for sure that my auto lights and drl will still work but every other place has told me thats not possible.

do u got pics of ur hids installed

$558 is alot of money.. ive got $120 in mine and thats with hid fog lights and the headlights.. same goes in my wifes car.. plus an hour of my time to install em.. ive got all mine off ebay and some companies offer a wiring harness that connects into the factory harness so you dont have any issues with bulb out or anything like that.. very easy to do yourself.. dont pay someone!

did it got 8000k headlights and 3000k fog lights will post pics later

Bi-xenon in a halogen housing are a waste. You'll be much happier with a single beam.

I installed mine at the age of 19. Rewired the entire system for them. If you don't know what you're doing it's best to get them installed by a pro. At least is something goes wrong its their problem ;) Take some pics. I'm interested in how they turn out. The lights in the '06+ are terrible.

EDIT- projector = housing.
