god gave me snow.. tires failed.

...My MT/r's must be better than yours...:p:

..Honestly though, I wouldn't suggest MT's of any kind for on the road traction in rain, snow, or ice, When BFG AT's are so much better in those condition's...

ive running a set of bold goodyear mtr's with a open diff and have no problems with the snow, only have problems with ice but that could be from lack of tread

im really not sure if these make the " A/T " tire list, but one of my buddies at the fire house bought a set of...

BFG long trails for his 2000 TOCOMA last week. they were 30.5''

we got a little bit of snow here in PHILLY. We went out last night to see how well they would do behind the philly airport ( PHILLY LOCALS ) know what im talking about lol... and i was impressed... im considering them for my X when taxes come back...

I have the BFG long Trails on my Frontier, as they came on there, but I wouldn't buy them again. I am actually looking into the Nitto Terra Grappler, but you may want to look into the Toyo Open Country AT.

Its pretty hard to beat the bfg at ko in the snow, I know alot of people who swear by them. Another great tire although a bit less aggresive that i have had awesome luck with is the michelin ltx at

all i can say is stick with the AT for snow. the closer tread pattern will give you ultimately better traction. the MT is wider and spread apart more. I bought some Dunlop Rover MTs and they didnt do too well in the snow this past season. some one mentioned buying a used set which is a darn good idea. once my student loan check comes through im going to be buying some BFG ATs and having my MTs for the serious mud.

I've run the BFG M/T's, the BFG A/T ko's and Kuhmo M/T's on my vehicles in the snow, and the ko's were by far the best. My Kuhmo's did perform better than the BFG M/T's though.

M/T's in general will not perform as well as the A/T's in the snow due to the tread design. Open treads generally perform more poorly than an interlocked or closed tread design in the snow.

My buddy's got MT's on his F150... his Probe gets around in the snow better than his F150 does. Heck, my old Goodyear Wrangler ATS's get through the stuff better than his super-sized MT's. MTs tend to dig too much and have o biting edges to grip the snow and ice with. It's like riding on grease with them!!

If you're dead-set on BFG's, for snow use, the AT's can't be beat. Some people rave about the Revos' traction, but then gripe because they only get 50,000 miles out of them. I've got Michelin LTX AT2's on my Ex right now... it's not agressive enough for heavy mud, but in everything else (snow included) they're excellent!! They're on their second winter, and I couldn't be happier with them!! They're way better in the snow and mud than the LTX M/S's were.

those tires also wear extremely well, I got at least 75k out of my last set. They are quieter and ride better than the bfgs too.

Which ones? The MTS's or the LTX AT2's? My MTS's were 62 miles short of having 100,000 miles on them. They would have gone another few months, but winter was on its way (early December of '07).

I previously had the general AT on in stock size and I thought they were great for the price. Now I recently put on the Kumho AT in 31" and all I can say is I will never look at another tire. So far in up to 7" of snow and ice I haven't even engaged the 4wd yet. These tires bite in the snow like a true snow/ice tire even though they are an all terrain. There is no way I would ever buy the BFG tire at almost twice the price

the A/T 2's

My Baja Claws OWN the snow. They are a bit on the pricey side and make a ton of noise on dry pavement. Snow has never stopped me as of yet and I've driven in as much as 22" of uncleared/unplowed snow on 31's. They clean out really well. You can see in the tire tracks where the snow that was in the tread pushed out the side as new snow was driven on.

For snow running, you need a tyre that sits on top of the snow, and actually binds the snow to the tyre - it's the snow on snow that gives the grip. An MT pattern will have no chance of doing that as MTs are designed to clean quickly. You want an A/T - something like Yokohama Geolander AT or Cooper ATR or Eldorado ATZ or BFG A/Ts, or Hercules Terra Trac ATs - so many different brands - whatever you get, make sure they at least have the M+S rating.

I had BFG AT KO's then went to Yokohama Geolander AT +II's. The Yokohama's showed better traction across the boards (even had a little snow here in Tennessee), were quieter on the highway, were wearing on the lines of the BFG's, and were significantly cheaper. This comparison was with my '94. The 2005 has the Geolander GO53's all season. Lovin' them.

I run BFG Long Trail TA's up here. They have done great in all the snow, ice and slush that we get.

I have the Terra Grapplers on my Sport. They are great in the snow. They wear really well too. These still look new after a year and a half. Even though I usually kill a set of tires every year.

The several sets of Revos I had were awesome tires in all conditions, but wore quickly and didn't look very aggressive. The Michelin Cross Terrain SUV tires I had were OK, but wore quickly. The OE General Ameri 660 AS were total garbage and were down to the threads in 6 months. I don't do burnouts, just corner hard.

while we're on the subject.. is anyone running the goodyear wrangler silent armor AT's? a friend of mine can get a really good deal on the silent armors. they are priced comparibly with the BFG ATs. the last set of goodyear wrangler GSAs i had were horrible.

I have silent armor AT's on my work trucks and one of my own. They don't compare to the AT and snow handling of the BFG's in my mind. They are a nice 95% road tire. They don't handle as well as I would like off road, and they seem to wear a bit faster the the BFGs.
