Got my Gearing Appointment Set..

The Dana 35 TTB axle is reverse rotation gears. The Dana 35 IFS is standard rotation..

Ahh thanks Mark! I think that is what the guy he was ordering the part from was getting confused with (and where i must have heard the reverse rotation from). He might of thought that my ex was an earlier model and not a sport either. But i guess a D35 SLA is different??

AFAIK, Only the TTB Dana 35 uses reverse. All the Dana 35's in the explorers after that use standard rotation..

Some things are interchangeable (gears are not). I'm using a Trac-Lok from a Jeep Dana 35 rear (standard rotation) in the front of our '92 explorer (reverse rotation).

So i have ran 2 tanks through and have seen the MPG increase! I started with an average of 14.3/15.2 (city/frwy ). First tank I went to 15.9mpg in the city. Second tank i went 18.3!! Freeway driving before i was around 15mpg..best i had before was 15.8. Now 18.3 on just the second tank and i still have my foot in the throttle and was cruising 70-72mph! I am really enjoying this right now lol

If you haven't corrected the speedo, the gas milage is going to be way off. Think about it - speed reads 10 over when driving at 70 means the milage is off by 15%. So... 18.3 minus 15% = 15.5 mpg. Same fuel economy as before, but the new gearing is much better for torque and low end acceleration. Get the speedometer corrected then reset the computer to let the truck reset its shift points will further improve the ride and may help the fuel economy for real.

I went from 3:73s to 4:56s and I think its around 2% off with 33s. But I Romeoville is right, you aren't getting the full 18.3. But by the same token you need to add mileage when your speedo was slow. You were probably getting around 17 with both gear sets. But the power is nice.
