** You need an aftermarket chip to remove the governor. ** Search for the term 'bamachips' to find out how to get one. We have EEC-IV/OBD-I computers--sometimes it's hard to find a chip for them these days. But if anyone can do it, bamachips can.

I do not think our trucks have govenors I know on my 94 I can burry my needle down in the drive or over drive in the transmission gear select.

EDIT: do you mean a speed limiter or redline limiter?

No Exs have governors. Most have limiters, computor controlled.
Do get in touch with Bama, let us know how all works out,When you do.

Are you referring to the internal rear governor in the A4LD's extension housing?

ehhh could you describe that in another way? im not familiar with what your talking about

This is an exploded view of what an A4LD's governor looks like:

I thought a speed governer and a speed limiter were the same thing. And I heard somewhere that it won't let the 1st gens go above 95 mph.

Think this thread got a little off track, rev and speed limiters are puter controlled, no clue as to what you can do with your 92

MSD company makes a capacitive discharge system with an option on some models to have rev limiting. MSD company is an acronym for Multiple Spark Discharge. Other companies like Jacobs Electronics have another approach that works by inductive discharge.

so i got in contact with bamachips and the guy said they didnt sell them but he had bought one from superchips when he had his ranger...but i checked out their site and they dont offer these chips any longer...

so i guess i'm stuck with disabling one...unless one of you knows how to?
