Well, Last summer I bought a new set of Bridgestone Dueler Revos, I loved the tires but with only 25k on them I had a blow out on the rear yesterday. The place I bought them from will only give me one replacement tire. Mine are probably about half tread.

My explorer is an AWD V8 with the Limited slip rear., I know you are supposed to replace all four tires at once but since they won't give me four my options are limited. I am buying some new, larger tires soon but funds do not permit it right now.

Will I be alright with 3 half tread 255s and one brand new? Should I put the new one on the front or rear?

Measure the circumference of the other three, then buy a used tire to match that measurement. I have found used before same brand, size, white letters, & wear.

Do what dr doom says. I almost made the mistake of using mismatched tires and heard lots of ugly grinding noises. I ended up getting 4 new tires instead.

I have been looking everywhere for a used REVO and have had zero luck. This sucks. The factory spare is a goodyear wrangler and it is nearly an inch taller.

As far as safe variance what should I look for?

For Control Trac I believe it is .25", I don't know about AWD.
