I know ford lists a 4.10 gear set in the 1Gen explorer, has anyone ever found one? I am wondering what would be the best way to find one. I have a nice setup on my '93 but I was thinking of replacing it and moving the goodies over to a 5 speed sport 2 door. Is there any point in me holding out for one with a better axle ratio?
Also, Is it likely to find it with leather? I've grown fond of my leather seats.

They list it in the owner's manual and the factory service manual, but I've never seen one myself nor heard of anyone on the site that had one. I don't doubt Ford made a few, but they were apparently far between. My guess is they either offered them early in '90-91, or were something new for the '93-94 lineup but Ford never received enough of the parts to offer them as an official option, since the dealer brochures only show the 3.27 and 3.73 ratio options.

Some XL/base models came with 3.08 gears, which are the other ratio shown in the charts, but not in the brochures, either.

In any case you'll be looking for a loooooong time if you want to hold out for factory 4.10's. 3.73's are cheaper and easier to find. They are also the lowest price gears through the dealer as well, way less than the 3.27's.

No telling if those 4.10's in the TTB are stock or not...or maybe Canada got the few that came with them. Those would be the ones to have, as gears for the 8.8 rear are easy to find and cheap, even factory.

I got my 4.10 front pig out of a 92 ranger I searched for over a year for an explorer with 4.10 but no luck found the ranger dana 35 in a day at the local pick a part for 50.00 needless to say i love my new gears perfect for my driving
