Having trouble getting rear end swap info

You want a 95 with no options for the master...no cruise,no proportioning valve and no abs...

This is unless you have a 94 cali version explorer..

The guy at the parts store I called wasn't much help. I told him I need a brake MC for a 95 4x4, no abs and no proportioning valve. We kinda got stuck on the cruise control. I told him I wanted whichever one is cheaper as long as everything bolts in the same the lines in the same spot. I don't ever use cruise control. He told me they are two different parts but couldn't verify bolt pattern or anything like that. Auto zone part #2696 or 2695 is what he suggested.

I think the only key there is the ABS, the other options don't affect whether the MC has a proportioning valve with it. Just go back and make sure the MC is for a non-ABS 1995 truck.

I thought the axles were identical though, 91-01? For others doing the swap, the rear end housing is the same except for the ABS sensor added in 1998. I've got a spare 98 rear that I got just for the axles. I need to yank the brakes because those are usable for the 91-94's.

Yes all explorers at least 91-01 share axle shafts. I've put one from a disc in a drum axle and vice versa. The only thing I'm not sure about is sport trac rear but I'd assume is the same.

I didn't end up getting a 2nd gen rear. They were all already picked apart. I ended up getting one from a 93. So, I didn't get the brake upgrade I wanted but I got a "new" rear end which was the more important thing. I haven't put it in yet though. I'm still waiting for the lift and shocks to show up so I can just do everything at once.

That's a better idea given it's your one vehicle, far from help during the project. You can if you want to later swap to discs, the whole rear swap is much harder labor. The brakes are a details issue, the right MC etc. Good luck with the swap.
