ok cool i ordered them. I cant thank you enough. you have helped me so much. i would probably have been in so much debt and have all the wrong materials if it wasnt for you! thank you!! :)

That's what forums like this are for. Most of us start just like you, I did. I never owned an IFS 4WD before the Sport Trac. Guys like John Rock and ncranchero guided me in the beginning, just passing it on. Try and meet up with some Florida members when you can, it's always good to have a friend to help out in person as well as online.

Getting used tires is kind of hit and miss. I've done it occasionally, but then I have a tire changing machine in my garage.

Not often people dump a good set of larger offroad style tires. Generally the best deals end up being 3 good tires when someone with AWD destroys one and has to get a new set (usually on the rims, with 1 missing) paid for by insurance company. Trying to buy a full set of 4 off one person is usually getting well worn, older tires with uneven wear or other issues. Its fairly common for truck owners to buy tires in pairs, rotating the new tires to the rears. So many of the tire sets you see will be unmatched wear - 2 with good, 2 with none - when they finally spring for a new full set. Searching for two pairs tends to get you better tires for less money.

Spending more than $200 on a used set is probably not a great deal. Add in mount and balance at most shops will set you back another $60-$100 for 4 tires.

Given that after rebates less than $500 will get you a decent set of new 265-75-16's at Pepboys installed with road hazzard, got to be a sweet deal on used to make it work.

Those are stock length shocks. Shocks won't really give you lift since they're just to absorb energy on them. But awaits the Monroe load adjust a lot of people have said they raised their rear 1-2 inches because they have a coil on them. But there's a lot of debate on those but may be worth a try if you new new shocks anyways.

Whenever I go over speed bumps my truck squeaks. What could it be?

Doing my TT and shackles on Wednesday. With stock tires will this be dangerous to drive?

The squeek could be a couple of things...

1. swaybar bushings need greased
2. swaybar endlinks are worn out and loose
3. rear leafspring isolation pads are worn out or missing

These are the first things to check for squeaks over bumps, it doesn't rule out the shocks but they have to be really worn or dead to do that.

Have someone stand in the bed and jump while you listen to each corner for squeaks then go and push down on the frontend repeatedly to histen for the front.

Just what I was thinking, I had a really bad squeaking on mine, sounded like an old pickup around corners and bumps. The squeak appeared after doing the aal so I started there, and that was the problem for me. I don't know exactly what was wrong with them but I took them all apart and wire grinded them and sprayed them with a dry moly lube and graphite then added another leaf and put them back together and they were quiet and gained some more lift at the same time.

Doing the TT and shackles on my truck tomorrow. Does it matter which I do first??

Do the shackles first then the tt so that way you can match the front to wtvr lift you get from the shackles.

I just finished doing the shackles on. It only raised it about an inch. Can't really tell much of a difference :/

And I feel like if I do a TT twist it will raise the front way higher than the rear

That probably means that you're leaf springs are shot out then. May wanna try doin the aal now then, the longer ones not the short style.

And keep the new shackles on? AAL seems complicated. Is it?
