hi all, ive been searching through this site and i havent quite found what im looking for. well my situation is, i found a good deal on a 93 explorer 4x4 manual 5sp manual 4wd and the problem is, the reason for the deal was that the tranny was pulled from the truck (clutch was replaced) and i was left with a bunch of peices to put back together. so far ive had to replace the slave, hydraluc clutch line, and rear drive shaft...but what im here for is im wondering if anyone could help me out with some really detailed pics on how this is set up (finished) in the truck so i can use that as a guide to see where exactly everything goes. they also showed me this small needle (about 2 inches) and they said it was for the speedomter? any pics would be greatly appreciated and save me some time wondering "where does this go?". thanks guys and this is an excellent site and i will be here for a while.

please email pics to xxp_sebby@yahoo.com

:D BIG THANKS!!!:D

3 posts and your putting down the forum.....:thumbdwn:

Come on :nono: be fair...

Sorry I can't help
Just Bump it up during a time you think the site would have the most members on.

Good Luck

i would say first and foremost start off buying a manual. im sure you could get a manual for your tranny off ebay for as little as 15 bux shipped. also googling your tranny will find you enough info to keep you busy for weeks. Lastly if you are more specific on where "things" go you will definately get more help....

3 posts? so i have to be popular here to get some help? im not flaming, im just saying that on the other 2 nissan sites i was assisted with help w/o being "known" in the forum community. i know people that see this have the same set up i have, but they just dont wanna help another member out, regardless of "status". im not putting down this site, im just saying based on the neglect of replys and the amount of views, no one wanna help.

thx x, i apreciate your input. the reason i joined here was because i couldnt find anything. ive searched for about a month and i figured that i would just come here and maybe someone could set me up with some pics of the stock look. its all good tho, i think the tranny job will be done soon. i just want some photos to smooth the installation.

I just have no knowledge about the manual transmissions. You are asking a rather specific question and we may not have many or any members who know. Ask me anything about an automatic tranny and you will usually have an answer same day.

In other words, it may be a misassumption that someone here knows, or that if someone does, they read this forum every day.

Wish I could help - but I can't.

PS. And we answer posts from zero posters just as fast as we answer posts from 5000 posters. Usually I do find that many zero posters ask questions where the answer is already here and a search might have helped, but not always. We also answer posts from non-members without regard to the fact its free advice for them and this site costs $ to keep up and running... I never even notice when I am replying.

PPS. Asking for a detailed set of pictures of something rather specific and esoteric and complaining when someone hasn't mailed that to you in less than 24 hours from the time of your request is not a realistic expectation on any board I am familiar with.

with a bunch of peices to put back together

how this is set up (finished) in the truck so i can use that as a guide to see where exactly everything goes. they also showed me this small needle (about 2 inches) and they said it was for the speedomter?

Hua?

Okay so you purchased a 93 Explorer with the 5 speed transmission removed.
The clutch was replaced and you had to supply a new slave cylinder and the hydraulic line

You are looking for pictures to see how the transmission is re-installed, the hydraulic line is run to the master cylinder, the transfer case fits, exhaust fits, and how the driveshafts go?

I have no idea what the speedometer piece is you speak of, in 93 the speed sensor for the cable driven speedometer is either in the tailhousing of your 5 speed (2wd) or in the transfer case (4x4) There is no 2" needle unless its the actual orange indicator in the gage on the dash? hahaha

I agree with these guys, if you are in over your head then the first place to start is the shop manual or Ford CD, you can also track down another 91-94 explorer 5 speed and take a look

Have you ever stabbed a 5 speed transmission or installed a clutch before?
I personally would want to inspect the clutch before I install my transmission, if the new clutch is mounted to the truck and the trans is out it is very possible the driven disc has moved since its been installed. I would remove the entire assembly, make sure the flywheel was surfaced and the pilot bearing replaced, then reinstall the clutch and stab the transmission

If you want detailed help from these forums then you are going to have to ask specific questions, a "bunch of pieces" tells us nothing, can you describe them? list them?
Just FYI

Everyone has the right to view and help "IF" they want to. They Don't have to. Just don't get huffy right away or you will lessen you chances of help.

lol, like i said i didnt want to start a flame, but the fact is, look how many replies i got when i called out. i really appreciate the input. well im going to reply to a few on the comments... 1st...lol@the needle on the dash, nah i would realize that. its this needle that goes into the transfer case and theres a clip that goes over it. im having a neighbor do the work for me cuz its sub zero here in ny and he has a garage, and they have a lot of experience in fords, they just havent done an explorer before. im just trying to get all the info i can on this so theres no confusion. ok 2nd...on the 24 hour thing, i posted this about a day or 2 before it actually came on the site (thread appproval?). i guess it was my own patience that got the best of me. i apologize for sounding like a whine ass, i just know that people are looking at this but dont want to say anything, even if they do know or dont know. myself, being in a member of a forum i like to help people out or guide them into a direction of where to get the info. i dont need pics on how to install the transmission, i just wanted some shots of one already set up so i can make sure "this goes where". ya know what i mean. i really have searched for about a month probably more just on the slave cylinder/clutch line installation and i have found nothing with pics. i had to buy both these new just to avoid "if i have everything". (wow @ 86 dollars for a clutch line) its just a mess and here i am venting. lol. but i didnt mean to be a dick just coming on here, i just needed a little help from you guys. thanks for the replies, and sorry for pullin on some g strings here :P

say goodbye to xlt

well, i finally got the truck back the other day and had a buddy of mine take a look at what they did to it. basically the truck is ####ed up beyond repair (wallet). they did a half assed job putting it in , half the bolts were sold to me, rear end, ball joints, rear driveshaft, rear frame rotted, shifter ....all shot. i didnt get a good chance to look at this before i bought it and i didnt even look at it before i sent it to have the tranny put in. 250$.... i thought i was getting a good deal...lol. i hate to do it but its come down to a part out. gotta call it quits, too much more money has to go into this to get it in working condition. theres a lot of useable stuff on it but underneath is just too much to deal with for me. but id just like to apologize again for being quick with an attitude for being new to this forum. its been a headache since i've sent it to have the tranny installed. ive been reading a lot of articles and posts and theres so much information here. i was actually proud to own my explorer and come on here and read abt it...just sad its come down to this. the body is in excellent condition, but looks arent everything and it was a hastey buy on my part. let it be a lesson to anyone else looking for a project or cheap buy. look at everything and dont take anyones word. heres my recent thread if anyone can help me out with some prices i would greatly appreciate it. thanks!!!
