I need some advice. Yesterday, on my way to work, i noticed my car wasn't transitioning as it normally would, when accelerating it just wouldn't go into gear and it was staying brtween 2500 and 3000 RPM. By lunch time, the check engine light was on and on the way home i had to pull over because when trying to merge it didn't accelerate at all! After taking my foot off the gas petal and the pressing it again it finally started to go. I got it back home and over the bridge safely and i had a friend check it out. I don't have the exact code handy but it's in the 700's and is coming up as either a faulty sylenoid or one being "stuck off".
After some research it seems like sylenoid repairs aren't always a quick fix and more often then not the check engine light comes back on soon after.
It has definitely got it's use and has 208K miles and i am wondering if this is something worth fixing and if so how costly repairs would be. Advice, experience, or warnings would be helpful!
