2002 Ford Explorer Sport
Hi, I am a newbie and trying to find my way around on this site. Please help. My problem is I have a 2002 ford explorer sport with 38000 miles. The problem is on cold mornings it will not Idle and wants to die, but when it is warmed up it is OK. I have be on the internet and see I am not alone on this problem. my question is do you think this is the Idle air control valve or the e g r or both. please help. Thanks. Bill

Is it a 4.0 SOHC? I just posted the info I found and repaired mine. It was the intake gaskets. Someone before me had tried to install a new IAC, but it didn't help. It is part of the 00M12 kit.

Could the intake gaskets prevent the transmission from shifting correctly (from 2nd to 3rd) even after having the transmission rebuilt?
