2018 PIU
I purchased my 2018 PIU from an auction on Saturday and picked it up later that day to try and start sourcing parts since all 4 doors were damaged as well as the lift gate and bumper. From reading online I found that most parts are interchangeable with some needing to be fixed in FORscan.

I purchased 4 doors and a lift gate off a 2018 Explorer Sport from a junkyard and got them all fitted. The problem is the window switches on the driver door no longer works. The door lock buttons and power mirror buttons also don't work. Both rear window switches on the rear doors work and will put the windows up and down. The front passenger window also works.

The power lift gate doesn't activate either but I believe that could be due to the original lift gate not being power. I believe that would be fixed with the lift gate control module and possible FORscan enabling. There is also no fuse in the power lift gate spot but I swapped one from the power seat but no change. I'm waiting for the OBD link cable to arrive to check things out.

I disconnected the battery and reconnected and nothing changes. Am I missing something else with the doors and lift gate?

Appreciate any and all help/advice...

Transfer the original wiring into the replacement door shells.

Thanks for the response.

Just so I'm clear are you saying to take all the existing wiring out of the door and replace it with the original wiring? Or will the door jamb wiring work?

All the wiring from the PIU doors should be swapped over. The pinouts are different. You MIGHT be able to reference a 2018 wiring manual and compare the diagrams and figure out what pinouts need to be swapped around to make it work, but the Explorer door also has a door control module that will probably be different than the PIU. So I would just swap them out as suggested. If you are using the Sport inner door panels then you may want to keep the lock/unlock switch and pigtail and depin the PIU lock/unlock terminals and swap them into the Sport lock/unlock switch. Im sure the sport has the memory seat numbers build into it so it wont plug directly in, but the lock/unlock feature can be overhauled easily enough, you just need to figure out the pin-out. Ill be making a video on it eventually. I have about 100 tasks to make videos on the latest project.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll try swapping out that wiring and hopefully I can get it all working.

Also, I'm a subscriber to your YouTube channel and have watched almost everything you've got up...it's been a huge help so thanks for that. Looking forward to the new content.
