High milage explorers?

[NO4X4GUY]

1992 XLT, 182,000 MILES.
2 TRANSMISSIONS, O2 SENSOR, AND NORMAL MAINTENANCE. THE EXPLORE STILL DON'T USE ANY OIL, BUT THE 4X4 DON'T WORK. DOES ANYONE HAVE SUGGESTIONS WHAT COULD BE WRONG.

plenty of radiator flushes
plugs and wires (several times due to my needs)
2 trans over hauls 1@99k other at 130k
and other basic items when regularly needed (filters/fluid changes)

u-joints are next on the list also going to be making the switch to manual hubs soon along with checking my hoses/clamps

and just a lil advice to jv2200 and everyone else that tows stuff with their x becareful when when towing they have been known to have brake failures when towing especially when they are most needed

72,000 miles on my 99 Sport. Replace engine @49,000 miles, replace theromastat, replaced battery twice, now working on fixing the front yoke.

The AX4N is also bad Got that in my bull...hate it already. Miss my 5R55E...that tranny is a workhorse.

~4years. Dec98 to Oct02

all other basic service intervals done including plugs/wires/brakes/belts/flushes/etc..

expecting to have another 4 trusty years with the car.

Update on my 92 now that I won't be putting many miles on it, its at my folks house until further notice.

I've put a few miles on her since I last posted to this thread. She now has 186,000 miles

Put about a dozen wheel bearings in it, hopefully that is fixed.
New I beam on passenger side(this included two new ball joints)
New brakes, front and rear
Front Sway bar bracket
Another rear U-joint
The middle front axle joint and the passenger side joint(done when the I beam was replaced)
Front Axle vent tube, ran a new one up into engine bay

Replaced the T-Case fluid a time or two
Still change the oil about every 3,000mi with Valvoline 10/30 and a Fram Filter, as well as a Fram Air Filter when it needs it. And changed the front axle gear lube again.

Things I still need to do:

Gave up on AC, too expensive
Still need to flush the radiator
should have the tranny rebuilt

I think thats about it. Other than the Front Axle she's been a great truck. Was very sad to park her for awhile. We are keeping it though, will never sell that truck. Once I get a house I can actually keep it i will be bringing it back up here.

95 explorer vibration

Well after alot of troubleshooting... I have a friend that works in a tranny shop.... he said i wouldnt beleive how many "Drive Shafts" go bad.. i took his advice, I did get it rebalanced at cost (170.00) so it will slightly more for the normal consumer.... but it did the trick... I do have a funny shaft though... my explorer is an expedition version, it has a cv setup on the front of the shaft (multipul u-joints) then of course in the rear.. I had replaced the ujoints myself.. but in the center of the cv there is a dampning cup of sorts... they took this off, and put a new one in there... rebalanced and poof.. i have a vibration free exploder hahahaha.. ive been living with this vibration for over a year. what a releif...
in a nutshell..... rebalance the rear drive shaft!

exhaust,hubs and there is some rust creeping up in the rear fenderwells that needs attention.

Mostly routine maintenance but whenever I had to replace anything I replaced whatever I could with aftermarket performance parts - most of which have a lifetime warranty (Bilstein, Borla, etc...)

Never had to replace any none necessary things,
Just the usual checks, oil, filters, etc.
I have spent less money on my explorer than any other car I have owned. The only prob is the gas mileage, currently 14-15 miles per gallon.

94 XLT, 188k, besides normal tune up and maint. stuff, ball joints, warn hub locks, replace bushing in electric xfer case shift and full rebuild of the A4LD tranny at 99k, which has never been completely right since. Can anyone tell me why when the weather is cold I have to let it warm up for about 2 to 3 minutes before it will go into reverse? And why is my abs light always on?

1992 Sport 4x4 5-speed

First let me say, I love my Explorer.
I inherited the Exploder from my Dad, while I was in school. I currently has 217,000 miles.

Things I have replaced:
Transmission
2 clutch sets
pinion flange
about 4 sets of universal joints
brake master cylinder (currently in the process of changing)
valve cover gaskets
2 batteries
all the coolant hoses (found out the hard way, twice)
brakes, damn atlanta stop and go traffic
A/C compressor

Things I need to fix:
new hubs, I HATE the auto hubs
drivers seat, can't find one of these
driver's side door panel, can't find one of these
slave cylinder, I think it is starting to go
serious refrigerant leak, no A/C in Georgia = sucks
power steering pump, gear box leaks

In the words of the famous Joe Diffie "you could light my Explorer on fire, roll it down and hill, and I still wouldn't trade it for a Coupe DeVille".

Oh come on! I never use my A/C, I've always got the windows down in the summer.
