Holy Spark Plug!

I just replaced the plugs in my 98 Sport. The new Champion Double Plats came gapped at 0.054. My truck's emissions sticker is missing, so I called around and everyone that would commit said that gap should be right. The (Motorcraft) plugs I took out were AT LEAST 0.090! I think they were the OE plugs and had about 180K on them. They were sure burned up, but the ride was still running fine!

FYI the OHV 4.0L is not a domestic engine. Ever wonder why its all metric?
Cologne family of engines, originally a merkur design.

Now that doesnt matter much these days, seems they are assembled anywhere they can get cheapo labor.

I run the +4's in my truck, never had a problem, however that picture is pretty scary!
I run NGK's in the boat and in the GF's GTI. I have installed countless sets of Bosch +4 and +2 in friends Ford's, never had a problem.
I really like the +4, basically any plug that exposes the electrode to the combustion chamber (without having to travel around the electrode) will result in better performance....

I may switch back to NGK's next time though after seeing these pictures, again!
WOW!!
Motocrafts are good too :)

You guys can put in all the BOSCH plugs you want. I learned my lesson. Though, it took it happening twice for it to sink in. Stick with Motorcraft.

I got your back on this one, THEY SUCK!

Only took me once though.

I just put Bosch Platinum +4's in mine........... You guys have me worried, the guy told me they were some of the best replacement ones (autozone).......
Not that I put much stock in what a counter guy says, but....... Last time I went to Autozone I asked the counter guy what plugs they carried and I added "Anything but BOSCH." He said, Yea, Ford's seem to eat them up." While some post they like them, an number of posts report this same insulator missing. I don't recall posts on any other make with this problem.

i've been using Autolites for a while now and haven't had any probs
