I have this intermittent CEL throwing P0153. On the surface it is an O2 sensor issue but is it really the sensor itself or is the sensor reporting a problem originating elsewhere? Has anybody successfully tracked down this error code?

Slow response bank 2 sensor 1

That is the sensor right under the transmission. Sometimes the wiring to it is easily damaged. See if the wiring has become loose and is contacting the front drive shaft, or, possibly even the exhaust piping.

If it is possible, you could swap the 2 primary sensors with each other without spending any money. Be sure to swap the connections also ( duh)

See if the code changes to p0133. (bank 1 sensor 1 slow response)

If it does the sensor is obviously bad. :D

This is one part you do not want to cheap out on. Get the best motorcraft sensor you can afford. You might get lucky on ebay.
