Cat had a severe Uriniary Tract Infection on Sat. Came home and he was laying in his own urine howling in pain. Rushed him to the ER vet, but forgot to put anything underhim on the seat. WHOOPS, now my truck stinks. :fire:

Any ideas on how to get this out. Tried vinegar and urine away, neither worked.

Leather seats or cloth?

Veterinarians sell a kennel disinfectant

It is your only hope

Good luck

I had the same thing happen, quickly dumped a drawer from a chest I had in garage filled with whatnots, used it to transport the kitty.

I had to throw the whole chest away, I even let it sit outside for a week.

You need an enzymatic(sp?) cleaner. You must get the enzyme stuff to everywhere the cat pee got to. If it soaked into the foam you need to get the enzyme stuff down there...

Cloth. Its on the carpet in front of the rear seats and on the console arm pad. I just wish it had been the wifes Ex ;)

This is true and it'll work.

Steam cleaning with serious pet de-odorizer. And you need to have it done professionally by a detail shop.

Detail shops have industrial steam cleaners and chemicals. When they steam that seat, the chemcials will soak into the fabric, and into the foam if they pour enough on there (make sure to tell them what happened and that you think it's in the foam). When the steamer vacuums the solution out, most of the cat urine should come out with it, and whatever's left should be killed by the chemicals that are left to dry out.

I used to work at a detail shop, and believe it or not, we once had a customer in who was taking their cat to get neutered. Well, he didn't seem like that idea and sprayed all over the passenger seat. I wish that smell on NOBODY'S vehicle. Anyways, we steamed it, let it dry, didn't work. Steamed it with pet de-odorizer, let it dry. Didn't work. Steamed it with some lemon-citrus smelling industrial strength odor-stopping solvent solution, and sure as hell, the smell was gone. The customer sure was happy when they came to pick up their car.

Trust me, go to a detail shop, the sooner the better.

No need for professional help. My fiancee had the same problem in her car.... she said she had it steam-cleaned by a detailing shop twice... it still made me queasy to ride in it.

Find a bottle of Ozium air cleaner. Take the can spray the whole thing into the car near the affected area, and close the car up overnight. When you open it in the morning, give it a good couple hours to air out with the windows down and doors open if you can. It's the only thing I've found that completely eliminates the smell.

My parents also had one of our outdoor cats inadvertently get locked inside while they were gone for a day. He sprayed EVERYwhere! Ozium got that smell out too. To this day, I still can't smell the leftovers. :)

Found that Lowes sells industrial strength Febreeze. So far so good. I would do the detail shop thing, but can replace the seats for cheaper here in town. Im thinking Leather seats from the junkyard and bedliner floors Since this thing is my hunting truck, not so worried about the carpet.

BTW trying to keep an indoor/outdoor can inside for 7 days is hell. I have not slept the past two nights.

If it is for hunting, you should be used to the smell of pee in 1 form or another, Don't you guys spray deer pee on to kill them big bucks, LOL...

Ozium air cleaner

where can you purchase this locally gijoecam?

Murrays for sure carries it, I think I've seen it at Auto Zone too.

Upgrade to set of leather power seats from a junk yard/e-bay. I got two power leather seats and a matching leather rear from an Eddie Bauer for $300 on e-bay.

My old seats were trashed (bent and smelly) by the 400lb chain-smoking man that had it before me. I tried in vein to get the smell out for months and they were not very comfortable. Ford's premium level seats (regardless of donor vehicle) are among the best in the industry. Dump the cat pee and hit the junk yard.

Deer is not this bad, and does not marinade in the hot sun waiting for me to open the door! :thumbdwn:

Will not have to worry anymore about this. Taking the rear seats out, taking carpet out, and replacing the console.

BTW the cat died yesterday so I really wont have to worry about it again. Pisses me off, he was only 3 and the best cat Ive ever seen. Seeing the wife cry just kills me.

No one has mentioned yet a specific brand of enzymatic cleaner like Maniac suggested. If you'll go to a pet store like PetSmart, get some stuff called "Nature's Miracle" and follow the directions. I absolutely guarantee you that it will get the smell out. It doesn't hide the smell, it KILLS it. It ain't cheap (but it's a heckuva lot cheaper than replacing seats!) and is the most amazing stuff you'll ever run into.

It REALLY WORKS. COMPLETELY. When Ashli and I moved into a fixer-upper home we bought, the prior owner had let a large female dog live fulltime in one of the bedrooms.... and I mean full-time. It had a litter of puppies that were born and raised in that room. The disgusting results had completely soaked through the carpet, through the padding, and deep through the OSB wood underlayment subflooring. I kid you not, you could not enter the room without a respirator. Nature's Miracle completely negated all smells. We replaced the carpet/padding of course because it was stained beyond use, but Nature's Miracle still took ALL of the smell out even throughout all of the OSB/wood subflooring that the smell had permeated.

It will smell awful for a day or so as it breaks down and dissipates the odors (that smell has to go somewhere after all, lol) but once it completely works its magic all that is left is a very faint almost-imperceptable pleasant airfreshener aroma with positively no hint whatsoever of any of the prior urine odor.

sorry to hear your cat died i have a kitten so i can understand.:(
