how do you measure for shocks?

...with a shock that has a compressed of 13 and extended 16 that's 13" of travel...

You need to have somebody redo the math for 'ya. That's 3" of travel! Everything I saw through Rancho down in the thirteens averaged out around 7-8" overall travel...

sorry i meant 26.i fixed it in the org post.

really?for off road or on road feel? yea the rs9000 seem to be really good shocks but i just cant afford $100 a shock.this new rear end and gears have BROKE the bank as is!!

Oh, I should have specified...

I never took them off road.. I put them on, didn't like the feel on road and replaced them within a week...

eww not what i wanted to hear!!if you can remember how they felt, where they just to stiff or bumpy

I was just bust'n your... for fun!

Beware, The $100 rebate is for a set of four, they all have to be on the same receipt, show the model numbers on the receipt and then, stand by to wait for what seems like forever to see it! I have been waiting for ~6 months for a rebate on 4 struts and three months now on the 4 RS9000XLs.

If you really want the RS999226 look at the RS999028 or RS99028. These are the 9000XL & 9000X shocks that replaced the 226. I know that I could only get the XL locally so the 9000X line may be on the way out too...

EDIT: OOPS, I pulled a JD4242. I meant to type "266"...

It feels weird to say it.. but the best way I can describe it is they felt soft. The suspension moved quite a bit with them (and no sway bars) with the Duff 2.5" progressive front springs. Reminded me of a great big ol Cadillac.

I tend to run my 9000's on about 6 or 7 (out of 9) with Duff front springs and thats soft enough for me.

yea thats what im not trying to have!!i run sway bars and anytime im really on the gas or at high speeds the thing rocks back and forth like crazy.smooth ride but that rocking is no fun!1i really want or prefer a stiff ride than a soft swaying ride

hahah was about to return the favor!:D yea i cant wait or afford the 9000 so they are out of the question, unless i find the JD are just to soft

Why not look at something like the Monroe's that you can buy/excange locally? You just can't expect a $30-$40 shock to have the control that you get in the >$100 range... some of the spring over shocks may come closer with a little break in price...

monroes are soft to.i hear good things about JD but its all offraod good thing.yea i would love to have those 9000 but money is just way to tight and i would go for it if it didnt take a year to get the refund!

I got a grand ol idea if I can talk you into it mark.you said you were maxing out those shocks you have, sounds like time to get new longer ones and ill buy those old ones off you, if they are still good.:)

I'd love to do that but one won't adjust anymore.. its stuck on 9. I replaced the knob on it but that didn't help (the piece you screw on with the knob). Its also got a dent on the can which happened when I caught a rock and ripped off the knob.

~Mark

what is 9?if they still work and you do get new shocks, i would still be willing to take them for a discounted price,if you was just planning on trashing them.my shocks are just maxed out in the back and wont allow any compression and its to the point that i have to do something.im going to go to the jd dual set up in the front after i get this rear end done and thats when i planned on buying all new shocks.

That more doable..

'm just trying to figure what order to get the stuff done..

Front LS install
Cut/turn front and install my longer front springs
rear SOA with frenched spring OR SUA with taller springs
5.13 gears

and thats just for the X.. So many projects, not enough time before October 23.. oh yea.. not enough money either.

EDIT: BTW.. stuck on 9 means max stiffness

haha yea im in the same boat.but this is my dd also so i cant put it down for too many days.i was really hoping to get my locker this week, still cant decide on witch one:mad: but my fan controller has gone out AGAIN, so thats a must and that leaves me with around a $100 laying around, so figured might as well go ahead and get shocks and get the locker next pay check in two weeks!!

why not go sas front?

why not go sas front?

because everyone is doing it :D.. I enjoy having the TTB go where SAS guys are going. If I decide to go over 35" tires, then I may go SAS. .

I already have the new front springs.. Heck I have bigger drop brackets (don't think I want to use them).. I have 2 spare sets of beams so I have a set to get cut/turned...... and my rear springs are really soft now.. I need to replace them (they were an S before I replaced 1 leaf).

~Mark

haha i hear that,i plan on keeping my ttb!!i would start in the back and do sua and shocks.then do the front beams and gear.then rear gears,so you would still be able to drive it the whole time or at least in 4x2.

Its not my DD anymore.. too expensive.. It costs me $14 a day to drive it to work.. I drive the honda as the DD now.. only $5 a day in fuel..

Could be worse.. it costs me almost $20 a day to drive the van to work..
