i've got about 45k on the set on there now and they look fine. probably not even half worn

I think I changed my pads three times during my 135k flight on my first X. Once was because the actual pad broke off though. I'd expect maybe 60k out of the rears.

Wow, my rear pads (rear disk) have never be replaced, 78,x.. miles and counting.

Matt, have you looked at them lately?

Just replaced mine at 94k. I wasn't the original owner so I don't know if it was done or not.

Pads still looked ok, but my front right was sticking. Didn't change the caliper which I though was the cause, just replaced the pads and it's beautiful

replace mine @ 95k miles. this was only because my lack of attention let a worn pad eat into one. the other was still in spec., despite my abuse.

I replaced my OEM set at 50K (front & rear). They had about 3/16" left on them at the time. I already spent the money for my Extreme Performance pads so I went ahead and put them on.

40K later I had to replace my front pads but my rear pads looked to be only about 1/2 worn. This time I put pads on from Autozone on just the front. I'll replace the rears when they get a little more worn (they now have 52K on them).

OEM pads were replaced at about 45k. The replacements only lasted about 35k because the slider pins were sticking and the pads wore uneven. I'm now on set 3 with 86k miles, but I will pay more attention to making sure they wear evenly this time.

Yea, I check them when I change my oil. They are fine. I even take them off and check them when ever I change my front pads. They are stll great. Don't forget I have rear disks, not sure if that makes a difference.

My stock pads lasted 60K miles on the X before they were replaced. Even then they were not totally gone, but I went ahead and replaced them.

I just checked the rear pads on my Town Car, has 23K miles, and they bearly have any wear on them at all.

I see your point, I should have been more specific. I was referring to PAD LIFE.

My rear pads lasted 75k miles.

Just this morning, I replaced all four corners. The fron really didn't need it but since pads are cheap, why not. The rears might have gone another thousand miles more but were pretty worn out.

The replacement took about 1 hour and cost right at $40.

I got 45k out of the front, and checked the rears and they had lss than 3/16, so replaced them also.

I used those ceramic compound pads, and it stops much better (but the brakes are so crappy, anything would be an impovement) - but more importantly 0 the ceramic ones cut down on brake dust on the wheels by a good 75%

Al, I'll bet your pedal feels a lot better now. I changed my pads last fall, and could really tell a difference in pedal feel. I had just bought the X, with 35K miles on it, and they were about 1/2 worn out.

Gotta love Do-It-Yourself! That would have cost you 200+ at a shop

Indeed, and I know it was done right.

this was the rotors. for pads i used Performance Friction semi-metallics. previous owner (there was only one) records indicate rear pads were replaced 3 times in the 85k miles of ownership. 108k right now on the 4th set.
