How long should it take to remove a dash?

I have a 1997 Limited V8. When I turned on the A/C yesterday there was a loud snap and then a tapping noise underneath the dash.

I took the car in this morning to the shop and they told me that it will take 8 hours to remove the dash.

Does it really take 8 hours to remove the dash?

To do it without damaging things, the center console and steering column come out too. I have done this 2 times and prefer the seats out also. It would be nice to be able to do it in 8 hours.


I'd change out the heater core and blend door while you are in there.

If it is your 1st dash removal, plan on doubling the book time.
