January 30th, 6:59 pm EST. I was driving west on state highway 139 in Randolph MA. I was approaching the intersection of hwy 28 and the light was green. Unfortunately at the last possible second, a 17 year old in a 1994 Mercury Sable failed to yield and made a hard left in front of my car. He was going pretty fast and there was nothing I could do. Both airbags deployed like they were supposed to and the combination of that and the seatbelt allowed me to walk away without a scratch. The triangle came on instantly and the engine died. Amazingly the stereo was still playing my favorite band Social Distortion. I got out of the car and the kid apologized and I explained what he did wrong and then called the police. He was issued a citation for failure to yield. His vehicle was towed from the scene as well. Fortunately I was near my friends house and I was picked up shortly after in the 2005 escape-hybrid he had just purchased less than two weeks earlier. I am very dissapointed but I am happy to be alive and uninjured. I will be linking the damage photographs as well as a final odometer pic in the next few days.
