How to: 3rd Gen BODY LIFT. Install.

yeah its kinda difficult ...you have to slide it on at pretty much a perfect angle for it to slide all the way on..

it just takes some playing around with but it should eventually slide in all the way

How does it connect

There are brackets on both sides that the bumper snaps in to, on the bumper and the vehicle... How are you able to snap the bumper on to these brackets?

Got my BL ordered today, cant wait to get it on, and pics will follow ofcourse

How long did it take u to do the install? I know Roadbully said 8 hours but I think he had a good shop and tools which I dont. So I'm just trying to get an idea of what it will take me. I hope it's here by the weekend.

I worked on it kind of off and on and it took me from friday night until monday morning to get it finished, but i was just working out of my garage with just some common tools so i would say you're looking at a weekend project.

cool, thats kinda what i was thinking of. I'm gonna prep everything I can Friday night then start Saturday morning, hopefully it wont be to bad. from what i've read I need some big vise grips.

Vicegrips may work but I used a set of these, (also made by vice grip)

Man thats not what I pictured, I thought it needed to go around the bottom of a bolt on the lift puck somewhere?

No nuts involved at the bottom, the bolt goes from inside the passenger compartment down through the floor, and then screws into a round plate... that's what spins, and causes issues, (the round plate), so you need to clamp onto it and stop it from spinning when you're removing the bolts.

oh gotcha,
I wonder why they havent fixed that in place? It goes back on right? The kit doesnt come with a new one?

They look like this

You may need to find a way to hold onto them to tighten them again as well.
But no, there's not any new ones in the kit.

alright, thanks for the help, the more I know now the smoother it should go. I'll get around it, I'll find something to hold it.

these work awesome as long as you have another pair of arms

you also need a dremel with a heavy duty grinding stone to widen out the steering extension( you'll realize what i mean when you get your kit)

other than that if you prep it up a day or so before you should be able to knock it out the next day it's not too difficult other than the two fore mentioned obstacles

side note i'm glad to talk to civilization again..

we just got totally destroyed in this hurricane and i still dont have power from 3 days ago..
just got lucky my dad found his satellite internet card from work but even that is getting spotty...i have been pushing my mounty to get around town though and i'll put up some pics

/end thread jack

hopefully next time i get on youll have some pics of your bl...it should look amazing on your ex!

aha, those are some big channel locks, I'll run get those tonight. I've got the drimmel and a grinder so I'll just cross that bridge when I get there I guess, I'm an OK mechanic, so I should be able to handle this. If not I'll tow it somewhere to finish! ha, no hopefully that wont happen.
Glad you weathered through the storm!

i was having trouble getting those bolts out but if you heat up the bolt that comes out through the plate they come out ALOT easier!

I will also have pics up when i get the second lift on it, maybe with tires, it will look rediculous with 6 inches with my stock wheels and tires.

You have the bl?
Where's the pics?

The only pics i have with just the body lift on it i dont have the bumpers on so it looks a little torn apart, as soon as i finished the body lift i got my 3inch spacers so it went right back in the garage... where i discovered i had a broken coil spring.

That sucks Derek, where is it? front or rear?
I've still got my stock front springs here if you can't find one...
