How To: Fix ARB Awning on 4th Gen OEM Roof Rack

Hi ever one


Here are the photos of the mounts that I made to fix ARB Awning on 4th gen Explorer OEM Roof Rack


I fixed the Awning using 2 mounts

each mount consists of 2 pieces

one is made of 1/8" galvanized sheet and the small one is made of 2/8" steel sheet

a thread should be made in the small piece

they are overlapping on each other

and a head of a bolt should be inserted inside the awing rails

then you need to remove the back corner of the roof rack

remove the crossbar and crossbar mount

the small piece should be inserted in side the roof rack rail and then a bolt should fix the large piece to the thread within the small piece


this is the front mount

this is the rear mount

and voila

and that's all guys

Cool! this might be a stupid question, but what happens when you drive? can you easily remove it? or once retracted it just sits there?

when I drive from the shade I notice some vibrations on the awning but I don't feel it at all. I drive on high way up to 105-110 mph with out any problems.

it is very easy to remove it, just remove 4 bolt (2 for each mount) the bolts that attached the large peace with the small peace.

Other Awning Options

ARB Touring Awning 2500mm #ARB108US is hand operated roll up awning, and it can withstand mild wind if strap tied well, generally it is okay.

Also there is the famous South African Eezi-Awn 2000 series (self retractable awning)
