How to remove air cleaner box on '97 5.0 L ?

I also removed the "wall" from behind the headlight and in front of the airbox, where the silencer was.

lol..

If only I won a "win a mac intake" contest -_-''
I wonder if there's any deals going on.. to get one for cheap.

Why do you guys think this pos broke anyways? It was probably only 13 above out too, pretty warm out. Is this the first you've heard of it breaking from being pulled out?

I love the sound of this. Oh man, I'm wasting so much gas with this. =P I'm not sure if I got anymore performance out of it, but it sure sounds a lot better. You can tell the engine can breathe better. I just need that MAC now.

Hey-

This might sounds stupid, but i wanted to know the point of this whole procedure? Do you get performance gains by taking the airbox off?

It depends on what you do, just take the air silencer out, or take out the complete airbox and put on a new intake... but yea, usually gives you more performance and mpg.. even its a little bit.. and better for your engine imo, more air.. it's not gasping for air..

Unless you change the exhaust along with the intake, you're not going to do much improvement to the motor's breathing. Allowing more air to enter (unless it's forced induction) without giving it room to escape doesn't do much..

It helps a little bit, but yes.. you're right about exhaust.. the more you let in, the more you have to let out. But as restrictive as the stock intake system is.. it doesn't hurt.

The real restriction is the stock exhaust manifolds, until you fix that problem your never going to see any big performance gains

I agree. TM Headers are the way to go.
