I would have been disappointed in myself, I was always told if you are gonna get a vehicle that you gotta make a committment to as far as making payments, then get something you're gonna enjoy and not get bored with down the road. Then you find yourself questioning whether you made the right decision or not. Now I gotta figure out what my first mods are gonna be. I got three off the top of my head. A radar detector, Exhaust( it's sad my truck is louder than the Stang), and CAI. Then I think I need to eventually think of talking to James about tuning it. I heard these cars are supposed to respond very well to a good tune.

So what's that thing supposed to run in the quarter?

They're pig heavy for a Mustang, 14.2 with a good driver on a good day, most run mid to high 14's consitantly.

Actually every source I've seen has the 05' + GT rated at a 1/4 average time of the mid 13's. And that's consistant of the GT's I've watched go down the strip while I was at the tracks! Sorry guys :D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifth-generation_Ford_Mustang

that's in perfect conditions with a very experienced driver, which your not. It will take you quite a while to get good at driving that thing down a track and making consistent fast runs.

That's definitely true! But Istill expect to run 14's :) . Either way it's gonna be a blast.

I've seen more than a few S197 owners extremely frustrated at the track when they couldn't turn any faster than a 14.60

As have I. I haven't seen one that could launch off the line yet without spinning through most if not all of 1st gear.

ah the interwebz

interwebz = dillusions or grandure

just because yo uread it doesnt mean you can do it too!

I never said once that I could , I was simply stating the "facts"! That is , that's what I'm capable of running if I time the shifts right , at the right air temperature, wind speed.

...mercury and venus are in the right spots...:D Just giving you a hard time. I hope it does well for you, and have fun.

Ohh no worries at all. Like I said, I'm confident that I can master this car after time. I'm learning very well for being very low experienced in HIGH performance Manuals. BTW, so Eric are ya really planning to return the the drags once again this spring. We should try to set something up in the near future so we can all meet up ! It's gonna be a blast, I love the atmosphere out there!

Good buy, those cars are quick. I've seen two or three of them run 13's on Pass Time. The only fast car I've driven was a friend's 03 Cobra. He let me drive it once after we changed the pulley. A late GT took off in front of us, giving me space to move. It took a while to catch him on the short stretch we were on before traffic was up ahead. The Cobra is scary in any form, but not a bunch faster than the late GT's. Have fun there.

I found the best way to launch in my 02GT was try to just "chirp" the tires on the launch and lay into the throttle til the shift. I used to practice on red lights and stop lights when nobody was around. I got 1.9 60fts and 13.65 in the quarter with bolt-ons, tuner, 4.10 gears, and BFG KDW tires(sticky street tires).

Now I drop the clutch at 4,000rpm:D (MT 10.5 slicks)

Its fun! Good luck!
