I'm getting new tires soon but do not know what brand to go with.

I want 285/75R16 I'm on a budget of around 750-800 for everything mounting included with shipping.

I want them to look good almost like mud tires but they don't have to be mud tires. I want them to look aggressive.

Any suggestions??

I love me some

General Grabber AT2 - They have that size and should fit your budget. I love my grabbers. Best tire I've ever run on any of my 4x4s.

I do a lot of highway driving. Will these still be ok?

They do have a hum to them on the highway (which does quiet down some once you break them in). But they work fine on the road and really well off of it. I was mainly going by what your stated price range was (including mounting and shipping).

You might also look at the Treadwright Warden also...basically a BFG AT TA/KO tread.

I think the grabber AT2 is also a great choice and you are more likely to find them sold at a local shop, so you might be able to take advantage of a discount or sale. Plus if there's any issue with a tire you can just take it back to the shop and work with them directly.

Go with either the General Grabber AT2's , GoodYear DuraTrac's. GoodYear Authority's are also good tires and they sale them at Walmart. Since you're in the south you don't need to worry about snow and ice but you'll probably play around in the mud down there. Treadwright tires are retreads and alot of members use them (OffTrac being one of them) and haven't had any problems with them.

I think i've decided to go with the treadwright tires guard dog they fit my price range perfectly and i love them. :)

Thank you guys for all of the help

Those are the same tires OffTrac has on his green ST.

No complaints here. They are a little noisy with the rear window down so consider if that is a deal breaker or not. Otherwise, the price and quality is hard to beat.

I run a 31" set of Authorities on my wife's 2003 Durango. She loves them. They are solid on the highway (with slight hum) and are good in the snow and ice (New Jersey weather). They look really meaty and are a good all terrain tire with aggressive look. The 31's really fill the wheel well (with slight trimming of course) since the Durango suspension is stock. Also I think I paid less than $800 mounted and installed at Wally World.

I run a set of 31" Firestone Destination MTs on my 99 Explorer. They run really well and are meaty. Also had to do some trimming to fit them but they look nice. And are fun in the mud. I recommend an aggressive all terrain if you are going putting on highway miles.

Cooper STT and call it good,,

i ran these, and they were awesome, excellent warm and cold weather traction, and great on the highway too,,
the ones i had were on i think 5 different trucks and they are actually still going on a local marinas yard truck,,

General Grabber AT2, i was also just notified about the Kelly Safari TSR? Apparently theyre the same thing as Goodyear Duratrac. Made in the same factory, etc. half the price about.

I have run Cooper stt's and it's a fantastic offrod tire but sux on the highway :p

but i love the kumho kl71.. that's a awsome highway/offrod tire

For cheep go the Goodyear Athorities $166 only a at Walmart.

Treadwright Guard Dogs might fit your needs and be within that price range.

I tried those once. Never again. They were only about $300 cheaper, after all was said and done, than a set of Duratracs or Fierce Attitude's. I had one separate and another blow out. After the separation they denied any liability and defended their tires. i had read all good things before buying. Customers stated that when they had issues, Treadwright would send them a new tire. I had to fight and fight to even get a discounted tire. So after 20k miles they have cost me even more than a real set of tires would have to begin with. I have 315/75/16. Will never run these again.
