So all he did was replace the pads on the front brakes?

You need to take the wheel off
remove the caliper, inner and outer pads, and check that everything is put together properly.

it is likely he did not install the pads and slide pins correctly.

If you do not have the means I suggest you take the truck to a professional.
If you want to do this yourself I suggest you do a search on this forum and also purchase a Chiltons or Haynes manual for your truck. these books or CD's will show you step by step how to replace/fix/repair your brakes.

So he turned the rotors (milled them) and changed the pads.. If your getting grinding they they are turned wrong (they should be smooth and flat now).. or the pads are bad/installed wrong (bad is more likely)..

Also, the caliper slide pins should be at least greased, but more likely replaced if they are old. If that isn't done the calipers will stick which will either wear the pads down (inside pads) fast and possibly warp the rotors.

You should have it checked out quickly. The grinding that you are hearing is probably something digging into the rotor. If the rotor(s) have to be replaced, that's going to be a lot of extra $$.

I wonder if he's saying "milled" or "bled" could go either way with that typo.. and it would change the diagnoisis a tad.. If he bled them incorrectly, he could have put air into the lines, hence the strange pedal action.. Combine that with a bad slidepin install and you could have a pad jamming a corner into the rotor.. if its been happening for awhile, you could have eaten the pad down to metal in that spot and poof, like magic, grinding.

Yes all of these things are possible.
No anti rattle clip, poorly installed slide pins, ****ed brake pads, inproperly bled, etc.

So what do you do to fix all of these things?
Take it apart AGAIN. Re-pack and re torque the wheel bearings, remove the caliper from the knuckle and clean/check the slide pins.
Reset the caliper and the pads and re-assemble.

Professional or the book if you have never done Ford disc brakes before.

Maybe he installed the pads backward.
