08 explorer truxxx lift problems!!!

Hi I am new to the forum but have been coming here for all the problems I have had an really appreciate it. But know there is a problem I haven't been able to find.

I had my 2008 explorer 4x4 lifted with the truxxx kit and it drives fine in city and on the free way. However the weird thing is when I am going on a freeway entrence and exit that has a bit of a slope to it I hear a grinding noise like metal on metal from the front end. This only happens when getting on and off the freeway. Anyone experience this problem or have a clue to what it might be?

I have been talking with a friend and he and I think the Cvs are out of place and when I hit a freeway on ram the sag and speed of the rig is making the 4x4 to try and kick in and since the Cvs are not right all it does is grind.

So I took it back to the shop told them what I heard and felt and told them to call truxx and fix it.

And sorry about the misspels did this from my phone and autocorrect sucks.

Depending on the slopes you are driving on, it could also be your front spindles hitting the coil springs for a moment while the suspension is flexed out. This is an effect of a strut spacer type lift on the independent front suspensions of the 3rd and 4th gen explorers and tracs...basically when you put a spacer between the strut and the strut mounting point, the strut can extend further than the suspension was designed for.

Take a look at the outboard sides your coil springs about halfway up and see if you can find evidence of dings or abrasion on the surface of the coil spring.

If you find that this is what is causing the issue, you can prevent it by installing a set of limiting straps similar to this:

Hey everyone, I'm having a problem with my 08 explorer 4x4. I just had the truxx lift installed last week. I also have 265/75/17 good year duratrac's on it. In test driving the exporer after the lift it i noticed that getting on to and off of a freewy exit something in the front end would rub almost like it was the brakes or metal to metal. So i went and had an allignment done and the rubbing stopped on the normal freeway entrence i take. However coming home from school the freeway entrance in sacrameto is a real tight turn and it started making the noise again, hwever it is just on this ramp. I called truxxx and have been talking to a guy named darren and he said he doesnt think its my drivetrain because the noise is not occuring in the same situations as it was earlier. He believes the tires are just rubbing on something maybe the body or something else. (I will admit i was going nearly 45 while going on this on ramp).

Has anyone experienced this or know what it may be I would really appreciate it.

Thanks, Matt.

Might be what I said it was in your other post: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=353263

Lol couldn't find the other post so I made a new one still not used to the forum lol. I check what you said and did not see anything so I am taking it to a 4x4 shop in auburn when I get home and am gonna have them take a look.

I had the tires on before the lift so I dOnt get why it would be making the noise after the lift.

Its like an inconsistent grinding sound right? Its your RSC, part of the Advance Trac. Even if your truck was stock it would do it if you go around a corner fast enough. But the lift and tires make it UNBELIEVABLY sensitive. I live in the mountains and it literally, LITERALLY, does it on EVERY DAMN CORNER!!! Talk about a headache.. Sadly theres no fix for it, at least that I know of. Some different shocks might help, I honestly doubt it though. Its not just your truck, any 4th Gen with the truxxx kit will do it. Its just a major sacrifice of having the lift, your just gonna have to put up with it.

Ok thanks man I really appreciate. Lol I swear I am not used to having mt's on a truck so all the vibrations I think something's going wrong hahaha. And ever tiny little noise is making me paranoid lol. I am just slowly going crazy I guess.
