also you have a v6. im v8 it will work?

how hard is install?

$325 for almost full ZEX kit, add $175 for remote opener. You'll need to get yourself about $60 in parts to complete the kit, and shipping too.

Willing to negotiate.

Install is very easy. Think: instant 75-125 hp! If you haven't gotten a chip yet I'd go ahead and get a dual program chip, or you can limit it to a 75 shot and not get the chip burned for it. This kit may be able to handle the fuel enrichent for 100-125 without a custom chip, but I wouldn't run that high of a shot without a custom chip.

No other upgrades necessary.

baumann shift kit comes in stages 1-5 for the 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd shifts. you can install any stage you like, i would go with 4 on all shift points. many have said installation is a snap. Dead Link Removed

hmm... good idea..

PM me if you're interested in the nitrous.

You may be able to beat him stock if he's still running a carbeurator. The 350 was not fun to keep tuned up. If he's running a TPI setup then I would mod the X out, but I always get confused on the strange years of the Camaro in the 80s. There was like TPI, TBI, and Carbeurated fuel delivery systems  All in all, most of those 350s were dogs, and will be even worse after age has taken hold of them. Your 5.0 V-8 on the other hand is probably one of the best engines ever made IMO, and should be able to put the Chevy in his place.

Ask any 5.0 Mustang owner how many old 350s he has smoked in the lifetime of his car :D Camaro didn't get fast until the LT1 V-8 in I think 1991? Then the LS1 came in '98 and they're really fast.

an 86 IROC will be a tuned port motor. these respond well to mods, but stock werent great. then again, the infamous late 80's 'stang 5.0 wasnt that great stock, either. either way, the fact that you have 4:10's and AWD vs. his 3:23's add up to you pulling him hard on the street if you get your's set up. like i said, the IROC's were fairly heavy. you can take him. trust me.;)

ok not to just completely dissagree with everyone on explorerforum, but umm I once had an 84 z28 camaro and it was not the dog everyone is makeing it out to be. It was the carb 350 and with a litte work i managed to pull a 14.3 at motorsports park. So if your friend drops just a little money in his car he could make it pretty quick. And as far as a 5.0 stang of the same year beating him unless the camaro is a p.o.s. and the stang has some mods most likely not gonna happen. After all mustangs weren't the best in the 80's either. Stock for stock I know the camaro would take the stang. Now when you start moding them it can go both ways, but mustangs have always had the "I can't hook for **** porblem" So give the ole IROC (International Racing Of Champions) a chance before you do it out. Or at least look at it this way he only paid probaly half what you did for your X and could but only about half what you would have to to make his run high 12s low 13s. So don't think with some exhaust and a little 100 shot of NNAAWWZZZ and your gonna smoke his azz cuz it may not happen. (Now to talk good about a stang) Freinds 93 5.0 convertable with a powerdyne supercharger runing 7 pounds of boost runs low 14 and thats with ****y tire extra wieght of the convertable and the natorious non-being able to hook of the stang rear end

A 5.0 running a 14 with a supercharger? Tell that guy to get his car tuned up. Mustangs hook up much better than you think. The Camaro is the one with the POS rear-end in it, not the Mustang. Ford makes the 9", while GM has umm...the 12-bolt? A TPI is going to be a dog stock, and is going to need a lot of TLC to be running in good order. Your 5.0 will rip him a new one from a stop :)

he does not have a carb. im allmost sure he has TPI not (100%) tho. i will ask him tomorrow. i know he has NO mods. and the car is a total POSlike 4 colors.. and like i said i just want him to put him in his place. he talks me down about my X to much and act's like his $1000 car is better them my 36k truck ;P like i said i just want to put him in his place and show him my ford OWNS him =)

if his car really did come from the factory with 245 HP, the wear & tear on his engine, unless rebuilt is probably got his HP suffering, you could probably keep up with a few good engine mods

i had an 82, and it ran a best of 12.25. however, were not talking about Camaro's in general, we are talking about THIS camaro. a completely stock 86 IROC that is in any kind of decent shape is pretty rare. please understand, we are not comparing a "like new condition" IROC with a few mods. like Mikke said, its 3 different colors of primer and basically junk. obviously, if it were new Mikke wouldnt have a chance without big nitrous or a charger. i also said to keep the race short, and not run a full 1/4 mile.

to compare:

EXPLORER- 4:10's, AWD, 4600lbs., good condition

IROC- 3:23's, 2wd, 3500lbs., beat to ****

a few mods and Mikke can take this IROC. THIS IROC. not all IROC's.

james, now i want to race him stock and see what i could do =P

Just remember the Speech:

"If your Special Edition(well somewhat) Muscle Car beats my stock Grocery getter then you cant brag very hard about that, But if my Grocery getter beats your Muscle Car or even comes close then we have a problem"

:) Beat him.

Donb't get me wrong if his car is a complete pos then yes you can through on a few mods and probaly beat him or at least give him a run for his money. I guess i'll i'm really trying to say is if your friend is anything like me and my friends when he sees you start working on your X to beat him its gonna make him start modding his and well like i said he can put in about half the money and smoke your ass. A $1000 pos is the best thing to start with if you want to make a fast car. Maybe i'm off base but if i wanted to make a fast car i could be proud of i would buy a pos and through in my time and money to make it pretty and hualin some major a$$. But thats just how things are down my way. But best to luck to ya and i hope you dust his a$$

Ok, here is goes, I had a 1987 Iroc, with the 5.0 and a 5 speed, my car was done by SLP, so it was better then a stock Iroc, so I dont know, but I would walk the dog on 5.0 mustangs all the time, eat the 5.7 liter irocs for lunch, I installed headers, and a even bigger y-pipe and took the cat off, and ran a 3 inch flowmaster, and with slicks on the car, I would run 13.10s in the quater mile..with street tires, I never could leave the line hard otherwise I would spin the tires threw 2nd and chirping them in 3rd..I never installed sub frame conectors on the car, and I ended up cracking the body above the windows, on the b pillars..the main problem I had with this car, is well I needed a endless supply of trannys..I went threw 7 tannys in a 1 1/2 years I owned the car..
