improper gear ratios and no O/D ideas?

hey guys, a while ago the OD OFF light on my mounty started blinking, and sure enough a week later a service engine soon light came on. Pulled the codes and i got a

improper 5th gear ratio
improper 2nd gear ratio
something about a pressure control something

any ideas? and would a good transmission flush and clean fix it maybe?

My 99 sport did the same. I had to get the tranny rebuilt.

Do a search on here for Explorer transmissions, or on the web for 5R55W or 5R55S trannies. There is a problem with the intermediate and overdrive servo pin bores wearing out in the tranny case, which causes you to lose 2nd and 5th. Click on my user name and look at my other posts, and you'll probably find it that way.

In short, the servo bore gets worn out, causing a loss of fluid pressure to that servo, which I guess causes that band to slip. There is a patch kit for the servo bore available from Northland transmissions, but I think the tranny has to be out and apart in order to install the kit.

You could also try to adjust your bands. There is a simple external adjustment to them.
