- 2005 sport trac xlt
I have a 2005 explorer sport trac with a 4.0Lsohc. Just the other morning as I was getting on the freeway, I noticed that my truck was smoking pretty bad, so I got off at the next exit and stopped a the nearest gas station. As it turns out, I had sprung a leak at the thermostat housing. It seemed like a no brainer, replace the thermostat and the seal, but once I started to take things apart I realized that the cover was barely going to slide off the housing unless I took off the intake manifold also. As I was looking at it some more I noticed that the housing had begun to split at the seam so I replaced that also but now it is still leaking, but now it is from the two sensors that are sitting right behind the thermostat. It seems that the seals in the sensors are pretty wore out because they slip into their spot with no resistance at all. My problem is when I put another o-ring on the sensor, I cant get it to go all the way down because the intake manifold is in my way. How can I remove the intake to gain access to those sensors?
