2005 sport trac xlt
I have a 2005 explorer sport trac with a 4.0Lsohc. Just the other morning as I was getting on the freeway, I noticed that my truck was smoking pretty bad, so I got off at the next exit and stopped a the nearest gas station. As it turns out, I had sprung a leak at the thermostat housing. It seemed like a no brainer, replace the thermostat and the seal, but once I started to take things apart I realized that the cover was barely going to slide off the housing unless I took off the intake manifold also. As I was looking at it some more I noticed that the housing had begun to split at the seam so I replaced that also but now it is still leaking, but now it is from the two sensors that are sitting right behind the thermostat. It seems that the seals in the sensors are pretty wore out because they slip into their spot with no resistance at all. My problem is when I put another o-ring on the sensor, I cant get it to go all the way down because the intake manifold is in my way. How can I remove the intake to gain access to those sensors?

I'm not exactly sure what kind of info you're after since my answer would be to just unbolt the intake and remove it...

Thats true, ask a general question, get a general answer! I am taking the truck to the dealer today that way they can mess with it, but thanks anyway.

Yes, I got it back two days and around $648.00 later! That is the last time i take my truck to the damn dealer. I asked if they could check my a.c. so they did. They told me I had a leak in the compressor and that it was about one pound under, if i wanted it fixed it would be another 900 dollars, so i told them to just leave it the way it was and now I dont have any a.c. at all! And they still charged me 79.00 for that! Sunrise Ford in Fontana, I recommend that people stay away from that dealer they suck!
