i have an 1997 explorer XL

i was looking at getting leather power seats from an eddie bauer. now, what is required to get the power seats working? is there a harness in mine for it, is it as simple is a positive and negative connection, what am i looking at here?

overhead consoles....i like the consoles that tell the direction and temperature, i realize ill need new sun visors b/c there's only about 5 inches between my two. again, connection wise, what am i looking at here to do this?

Yep, just 2 wires to it. I ran mine directly from the battery. Im pretty sure ford put a harness somewhere under the passenger side dash to tap into but I couldnt find it easily.

Not to jack your thread, but does anyone know what the harness thats plugged into a dummy socket BEHIND the dash do, its in the neighborhood of the 4x4 switch on my truck. I've seen some type of air bag switch in this location before.

thanks!!!

what about the heated ones, where is the control for that? on the seats or in the dash?

fantastic question. I really would like to know the answer to that question. :)

anyone know about the heated question?

I believe the Gen II heated seat controls are in the dash.

You dont need to wire directly into the battery, there is a fuse location in the power dist box under the hood for the power seats.

The harness is part of the truck, the power wires should be under the dash, if you have a donor vehicle to get the seats from trace the wiring back and get the complete harness.

Do you have a cigarette lighter next to the radio?

what about the controls, is it a complete harness, or can it be wired up also?

if it is a harness, would an explorer that didnt come with factory heated seats have the harness?

thanks

yes the wiring for thepower to the seats is in the truck, you just need the wiring to go from seats to it, then put in the fuse

I am looking to upgrade the seats in my 1993 XL with a set from a 93 EB. I looked under the seats in my XL now and there is no wiring harness showing. Is it burried or will I have to run a new power line. I see the EB seats have a 2 pin connector on them, is it a simple power and ground?

Thanks!
