Offical So Cal Earthquake Thread

USGS and Cal tech is getting a little nervous. T-haven is shaking like crazy in the last 48 hours (24 quakes just this morning) including a 4.8. Alot more then normal. Sense T-haven and the Salton Sea, sit pretty much on top of the San Andreas, this is has them a bit worried. Only time will tell.

Hold on kids...it could get bumpy:D

I didn't hear about T-haven, but i'm not sure what to believe because they've been talking about the "big one" for years. Either way, guess i'm as prepared as i'm gonna get.

well said the the lower half of the san andreas has a major one every 120-200 years. It's been about 325 sence the last one though:rolleyes:

But you right, they always say it's coming. My dad said when he was a kid they said with in the next 30 years...and they said that when I was a kid too. I'll be 32 next week...I'm still waiting:rolleyes:

When it happens, it happens . However we are due again. Last real big one was Northridge in '94. Scary to think it was 15 years ago

Wow, 15 years ago! I was 6, and still remember it very well. We were about 15 miles from the epicenter.

nothing like a good earthquake to get the construction industry going again in so cal.....

Good luck to all you guys out there, hopefully you won't have any problems!

Maybe with all of these small quakes, it will let the pressure out so there won't be a big one-

Things that have changed the playing field.
For years water was diverted out of the Salton Sea, leaving a shallow smelly mess. People complained about the smell and the loss of the Sea.(no shaky, shaky's!) In the last year and a half water has been pouring into the Salton Sea bringing new life, and ta-da shaky shaky's! Water is heavy percolates down and seeps into any crack it can find, putting pressure back on the fault line. OHHHHHHH TRuckhaven might have some new untraveled trails soon!

Every time we get these mini quakes or micro quakes, China, Mexico or Japan gets hit with a massive quake. I remember those stupid quake prep drills in elementary school circa 1970's - get under your desk. After the Northridge quake, we learned furniture can fly... hiding under a desk won't help. And standing in a door jam won't help when the entire building/house/unit comes off its foundation... The only way to prepare for a quake in California is to be in another state when it happens. If the San Andreas slips, God help us all...

I miss earthquakes, send some to the east. Maybe it'll shake up the land and reveal some more rocks so we can get some good off roading.

:popcorn:Hope for the best with you guys.....wonder if the houseing market would rebound with ocean front property in Vegas? JK I got family in SD and Pasadina

If the S.A. fault slips, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon... you go with us. Bet. :D

The local news said there's been 174 quakes in the Salton Sea area since Saturday. :hammer:

If we're lucky, the land of nuts and flakes will become an island.

Sounds like you guys need to make an emergency T-haven run ;)

Then we wouldn't have all you other crazies and dingbats coming to visit the state that everyone hates so much. Come on San Andreas, get pissed and let's do this!

Oh and MD = Maryland not Mass... :D
