Is this key of any use?

Amazon has this one piece key and remote that is pretty attractive. Looks like it is just a shell. Is it of any use to us?

I get the concept: take apart your old working remote and place the guts into the new key. Would also have to bust apart your old working key and pull out the PATS transponder and put it into the key. Then get it cut to match your old working key. End result is a working key/remote combo.

Not sure it's real practical to do, but should in theory work.

This sure looks like a guaranteed way to lose BOTH the remote and the key. I guess I’ll pass.

I really like the idea, but I'll put money that the complete key/remote will be too fat to fit into the ignition switch assembly.

There are a couple ways to defeat the PATS chip issue but carving up the ignition switch and keeping it looking acceptable would be a chore.
