Is this vibration normal?

... My Ex has to go in Friday to replace a broken window trim piece and they are going to do an inspection of the cv axles as well as the rest of the car to see if they can find anything...

Thanks for the update, orangesoda123! Let us know what the dealership find out on Friday; I'll keep my eyes peeled for any new info from you.

Unfortunately the dealership did not find anything with their inspection but did acknowledge there is a slight vibration. They scheduled another appointment for next Wednesday to remove the CV axles for a more in depth inspection. While I'm disappointed there wasn't an obvious issue, I do commend my dealership for wanting to take a deeper look. Most dealers i've worked with in the past basically go "Well, its not broken. Bring it back when it is".

I will keep updating as more news comes.

so i have a humming/vibration in the pedal that is RPM dependent. When i accel a good amount up to 4K + you can feel it..light accel not as bad. Nothing in wheels just gas pedal

Also when first starting off in am and turning for first time i get a slight pop feeling in the pedal from front end...but goes away and only does it once. Until i shut car off and let it sit for 20+ min

I am interested in knowing if the replaced bearings and axle have been a long-term fix to this problem.

OrangeSoda: I replaced the tires on mine (upgraded to Bridgestone Dueler HVL) and it made a SIGNIFICANT improvement in the vibration issue. The factory spec tires are about as cheap a tire as it is possible to buy these days.

I have the factory Michelens on it currently. While I hear they are a ton better than the Hankooks i'm still pretty anxious for them to wear enough to get rid of them and put something else on.

Honestly I haven't been noticing this vibration much lately. Maybe I'm just used to the vehicle now.

And good point about the Michelins vs. Hankooks. Mine were Hankook.

Or perhaps the front suspension has worn out and the vibration is being taken up by the slop in the bushings, etc.
See this post: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=419861

Why i think what i have is not really what people here are saying..mine seems...different...just feels like i can feel the engine vibration/shaking through the pedal when acceling ect. Nothing in wheel..only gas pedal

It's werid..i can't remember if it was there when i got the car 7 weeks ago...i don;'t think it was. Only thing i added was a CAI but i don't think that could case it

I have the vibration too

In March, I just bought a certified pre-owned 2014 2wd Explorer Limited, with 4500 miles. I have had strange vibrations which I have thought were tires, sometimes it's good some times it's bad. I am relieved and disheartened that this is a common problem. This our first new car in years...

From reading this entire thread, I suspect there is much more going on with vehicle other than just tires. Bummer. I have also though read horrible reviews for the Hankook OEM tire and many people have problems keeping them balanced.

I see RandyH2 replaced the Hankooks for Bridgestone Duelers. Has anyone else had an improvement by switching the brand of tires.

I am looking at the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alezena Plus. TireRack has good reviews.

My thoughts are eliminate crappy tires first and then go from there.

Thanks, Troy

What type of vibration issues? The one in the pedal like in this thread? I plan on replace these horrible stock tires in the next month or two as well.

The tires definitely solved my vibration issue. A real shame that the dealership couldn't resolve it for me. My guess is that it goes back to the Firestone problem. In any case, new tires are a nice upgrade- better mileage, better ride, less noise, and no vibration.

Thanks Randy, I am convinced it's tires too based off the way it acts. I guess Bridgestone's are the way to go.

Fabulous customer service is what it is all about. I've had my Explorer for 1200 miles, yes 1,200. I've had horrible issues with tire vibrations as I've posted earlier in this thread. I was able to use this thread, information on TireRack and several other resources to point out these Hankook Optimos are not staying balanced. I pushed on my dealer, proved that I am a car guy and know what the heck and I am talking about. Told them that others have lived through the hassle and that I have no desire to relive everything just to get to the same point.

They listened.... They are replacing my tires for free with the top rated Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza Plus. Zero cost to me. Now that is service!

The Service Director at the dealership was well aware of the issues with these tires. They are great and I will go back to them again, even if it is an hour drive from my home!

They have been open since 2009 and have more more Ford awards for service in their short time. This was my first new car in years. I hate buying cars and this is the very first experience that was actually enjoyable.

Check them out... Pioneer Ford in Breman, GA. http://pioneerfordofbremen.com/

What an awesome dealership, cheapjeep2! Let's get this feedback documented in our system to make this shout-out official. To make that happen, send me a PM with your full name, best daytime phone number, dealership information, and any specifics you'd like me to include about your experience. I'll do the rest. :)

wow...awesome...those are the tires i am going to buy next week as well. My truck goes in Thursday for them to look at my humming gas pedal at all speeds...(could very well be the tires) but i am also leaning twords a bad wheel bearing as i have this weird whirling noise at high speeds from the front right tire

I've posted on this issue before but to recap, I had the vibration/wobble in gas pedal/front end on accel up to about 25 mph. I put bridgestone blizzack tires on and it went away completely. The next spring I put new hankook optimio OEM tires on and got the wobble/vib back. Brought it to the dealer and they replaced both front c/v axles and the wobble/vib was gone. It's been about 20k since and it's still gone. I think these hankook sh** tires accentuate any play or imperfections in the drivetrain. Now I'm starting to develop a slight shimmy at 60mph. I can't wait for these tires to wear out so I can put a better set on!
