My girlfriends dad took her jeep to the smog referee today and it passed :D :D We had to go twice cause we had the wrong airfilter assembly the first time and they wouldnt let you make an appintment for longer then 45 min and there was no way to do all there work in one trip anyway. Its an 84 cj7 with a 98 4.0 tj motor also swapped in a NV4500 tranny to go with her 4 to 1 dana 300 t case. Cant wait till we get to take it wheeling and see what the 104 to 1 crawl ratio will be like :D :D :D Now we get to start on the rebuild of her dads 1972 blazer that is getting a 4" lift 33"s 203/205 combo new paint interior and resealing of the motor. Should be nice when it is finished

I'm scared to take my X, I installed an exhaust cutout, but i'm sure they don't lift the truck so it should pass, I have to install my oem intake box also.

It depends on the shop. We had to go to a state smog refferee to get it done. They take about 2 hours total to do the whole check. The biggest PIA that we had was that we used an OBDII motor and the check engine light is a digital signal that has a proccesor in the TJ instrument cluster so you have to use part of it to get the check engine light to work without having to swap complete guages.

thank god we don't have to do that here :D

On my zuk, I had replaced the air box with a K&N cone filter. I thought I'd have to put the stock air box back on for smog check (and it's dyno test around here now).

Smog guy said don't worry, it's not considered part of the smog equipment on that engine. That floored me, until I looked at the vehicle sticker, and yup, sure enough, it's not part of the smog equipment!

we still havent got my girlfriends '84 CJ7 passed inspection, its got a crate 350, t5, 300. im going to down east offroad tomm to get the TRE flip inserts. you suck, i want a 4:1 300! and also a new clutch and tranny would be good. damn 5th gear  what size lift and tires does she have? mine has 3" an 32's for now, but soon 33's.
