Oh, and what about rear shock mount access with a tank in the way? Just curious.

This pic isn't the best angle but should help. This is back when mine still had the 8.8" (obviously). The crossmember that the tops of the rear shocks mount to is only just behind the axle. If there is any sort of interference with my build we'll just move the shock mounts. However I'm still confident in my plan.

I'll try to get some better pics of the area next chance I get.

This gas tank thing has my gears turning for another reason now.

My neighbor gave me a 6000--yes 6000 psi flourochloromethane ( or something like that) tank from a boeing 747. I assume it is an air conditioning tank of some sort---


I plan on this for an air tank. I was told the local fire department can fill it to 2400psi but I do have a small on board compressor also.
This thing is pure bling--

It is pure stainless with its own hinged mounting bracket. about 14" diameter and 16" long. It could go where the present tank is, or, in the spare tire location.

Anyway, back to the radius arms.
I scored a real nice set of low profile radius arm brackets from an old f250 2wd. Bolt on is nice.

i honestly wouldn't have a clue, i know that nitrogen has a high compression ratio, like 3000psi and it can be used in tires, and air guns. but If you can find something to regulate the pressure down to like 100psi coming out of the lines, that tank would last you quite some time, especially at such a high compression.

There you go, use that nice SS tank for CO2. You can install a valve to isolate it from your on board air, in case you might want to use it for that also. The higher pressure needs to be kept away from lower pressure components like the air compressor or lower pressure regulators.

I would treat it just like a big powertank set up. Use all the powertank (or similar brand) accessories on it. Get it filled at a local gas supplier, I dont think that little ARB compressor would even come close to filling it to its capacity (wink wink nod nod). The small Co2 tanks can refill a set of tires about 15 times, so imagine what you could get out of that tank. Gotta warn ya tho, the attachments can add up to high dollar amounts.

This would be an interesting Mod to say the least, but I would be concerned about saftey. Build a exo tube cage around it or something to protect it from being a boomer/truck killer.

Good thought, build a solid skid plate under it. You don't want it punctured or even dented with high pressure in it.

If my math is right, it should hold about 175 lbs of CO2 at a 34% fill volume.

And with N2, the tanks are usually filled to either 3000 or 4500psi. Bulk fill stations are rated at 5000psi.

And the gas it was probably used was difluorochloromethane (R-22) refrigerant for their AC plant.

The tank is already in a square -open ended stainless box. There is a handle on one side of it and a mount bracket on the other side.

Dang I wish I could post pictures.

Anyway--

I just found out something. The f250 radius arm brackets have larger holes. That means more rubber around the shaft, which should result in less bind, longer wear and a smoother ride.

At first I thought the holes were just worn, however I had the torched off f250 Arm ends with bushings.Comparing them to the new ones I had on hand for the f150 style shows the area which passes through the bracket is about 1/4" larger diameter. The f150 bushings just flop in there.
The shaft itself is the same size.

Oh and I just powder coated the arms white with silver vein.

I blasted the brackets and coated them black.

I really do not like the 2" blocks I have, and although shackles flex real nice, I have to think there is a good spring combo which will yield 2" lift. I think springs are a better route over shackles as we may haul some weight back there.

I powerwashed and sanded my sliders, then wiped them with lacquer thinner for a clean surface. They are also now white silver vein. It will pop against the black herculiner on the rockers'

The more recent part# for the OME springs is CS042R and last I saw they were msrp of $180 each. Those are the 2" lift springs (1.5 - 2) that used to be called OME-36

Finally a big woo hoo--

Dan Whitaker gave me a head unit the other day so I had gone out to install it. First I checked the resistance of the speaker wires, on a low range, and they checked open. So I threw the head unit back on the shelf, assuming I needed to go buy some speakers.

Well, yesterday I had a power window issue and needed to remove the door panel.

Wow--not only were there speakers in there, but they are 2 way infinity speakers!

So I dug deeper-lo and behold the stereo harness goes to a stock power amp. I should have figured this. If I had switched my meter up to the mega ohms range I would have caught it--

I hooked up the head unit, stock in a String Cheese Incident CD and wow this thing sounds great. The highs are so crisp and undistorted-

Jonathan-(DeJello) I want to thank you now for leaving those in there. They are way better than the walmart speakers I intended to buy. I was only expecting to get some noise out of it for weather use, but now I am whistling a tune-
